looks interesting ,although it seems similar in it's plotting and ideas as the film "the Fountain" but on a larger scale.

cloud atlas it was a book from a few years back that won a few awards never read it myself but it seemed to get quite a lot of press attention and mainstream success

Default Looks alot better than the book

Ive read the book, and if you think any of Ayn Rands stuff is long and lengthy try this.

I didnt like the book, i found it to be far too boring although i loved the concept, its basically what i hope our lives to be.... That we never die. Its basically our life energy transfering from one vessel to another as we move through history.

The trailer looks as if they done a much better job with the movie than the book and ill defo check it out.

I just came home from watching Cloud Atlas. One of the most beautiful, inspiring and important movies ever made. It shows how elitism can go on forever if we don't get off our knees and start taking responsibility even though it may involve death. If you're a fan of the Wachowski's other projects (Bound, The Matrix Trilogy, The Animatrix, V for Vendetta) you will definitely love it!

don't think this has much to do with Ms Ayn Rand except the word in the title.

I wasnt saying it was anything to do with her work.... i was just comparing the length of the book.... Like 600 pages or so.
And i was saying its a big long read, and an annoying read.... like rands stuff is.

I wanted to like this film but it just didn't do anything for me in fact I gave up about halfway through it.

If I had the time I would write a review but this review pretty covers how I felt about Cloud Atlas:

You cannot have a lie without the truth for the lie to spawn from.

Truth is only our shared acceptance and agreement which defines a perceived sentience and energy

Within our collective consciousness.

I've been putting off watching it for a while, mainly due to poor reviews. Just watched it though, and wow! One of the best films i've seen in years. I understand why it isn't liked by the mainstream. For the same reason David Icke isn't liked by the mainstream.
Massive respect to the Wachowskis for pulling it off. I can't recommend it enough!

Thats an excellent review.... its exactly how i feel on the matter.
I tried reading the book.... had to stop three quarters of the way in....
I tried watching the movie..... and had to stop after 20 minutes.....

The problem is how can you write about or film the very nature of exsistence.... You cant.

You'll just have to find out when you leave the vessel your currently in and return to the Ether/Source

Valiant effort though on behalf of the author and directors

try it out
start with your birth day, and month
pick a historic event
everything is connected
have a dig around, names places dates

one of those 'on this day' sites
go on
follow your nose
what matters to you and why?
follow your instincts

How does that work then dentedarthur?

Do you mean that on our birth day, things happened unrelated to us, that actually do turn out to be related?

Worth a read, his first novel though, "Ghostwritten", is a masterpiece.

I saw the film and I was a bit disappointed. It was lengthy though it was entertaining enough, but if you're going to do a film about reincarnation you should address Karma, but karma didn't seem to come into it. At least it wasn't very obvious.. unless I missed something.. So much more could've been done with the concept of Karma, so it was a missed opportunity imho.
