Default Romney Vows to Fight Medical Marijuana

"Romney Proves Himself to Be Irrelevant, Vows to Fight Medical Marijuana

Eric Blair
Activist Post

Recently on the campaign trail Mitt Romney said that he would fight marijuana legalization "tooth and nail". During a town hall meeting in the "Live Free or Die" state, New Hampshire, Romney used the same tired argument that marijuana leads to a "culture of drugs" in young people.

This argument is increasingly becoming ridiculous, and the voting public knows it; all except the probably inebriated paid staffers clapping in the background.

It's getting harder to blame drug abuse and justify the drug war on a non-addictive, non-fatal, natural herb that clearly helps relieve countless medical ailments. Incidentally, it's getting harder to justify military-style raids and throwing people in cages over a flower. Or worse, killing them over a bag of weed.

The continued justification for the war on marijuana, whether from Romney or Obama, is beginning to make our leaders look foolish, especially since 17 states and Washington D.C. have legalized medical marijuana use, 15 states have already decriminalized cannabis, 3 states are voting on full legalization this fall, and many more have legislation moving through state governments.

But at least Romney addressed the issue this time. Back in May, he deflected a serious question about medical marijuana policy by calling it "irrelevant". He arrogantly asks, "Aren't there issues that are significant that you would like to talk about?" "

Did you notice? Did you see it?

Romney's campaign blunder to fight Medical Marijuana, comes on the heels of obama's campaign blunder of calling for more gun control at election time. The rapid increase in gun sales indicates Americans are in no mood for more gun control.

See how it works?

obama's campaign blunder doesn't look so stupid now that Romney introduced his own campaign blunder? The timing was perfect to.

See how they play us? Why can't others see through this circus?

Romney and obama are total shit. I would never vote for either.

The funny thing is that Obama said he would go easy on medical marijuana and of course he didn't because his owners are the same people who own Romney and they don't want marijuana to be legal.

Even though Obummer went back on his word, the people still think there could be hope (real sheeps)

What is the significance of Romney taking this extreme stance, so unpopular to most Americans that are not living in the bible belt or fundamentalist?

By Golly, he just shot himself in the political foot deliberately. Why?

With Ron Paul waylaid, people can only look to Obummer now, as disgusting a thought as that may seem. Personally i wonder if there will be an outbreak or national emergency that will preclude any elections "temporarily"

Only 100+days till elections, what tricks will they play for us. Meanwhile troops and ships are amassing in the mideast, the stage is being set for the next act

The significance?

Romney is an idiot. His personal opinions just happen to coincide with his owners opinions.

Not everything these two morons say is scripted or meaningful.

As a side note, Romney is currently in Israel. No surprises there!

No question whatsoever. He's an idiot.

Hard to say who would win though if we had a contest for biggest idiot, Obama or Romney.

You're most likely right, everything is not scripted, and he is a bona fide moron of the 1st degree

What an animal, to deny people access to pain relief that has the least side effects, perhaps just on the principal that they might get 'high'

I wonder what gateway drug he took to become an asshole. probably inherent. And Obummer cracking down with laws, the former 'choom gang' member

People at the top are not affected by the laws for the little people. Reportedly, the Saturday Night live" show staff had their brainstorming sessions with bowls of coke on the table

I don't know what it's like where you live, but in my neck of the woods there's a lot of elderly people that are stoned off their ass all the time on pharmaceuticals. They are driving while completely oblivious. You have to watch out for them, because they sure aren't watching out for you.

The bottom line is that you can't make seroquil at home, and you can't grow vicodin in your yard. Marijuana is a grave threat to the pharmaceutical industry. That's all there is to it; all the reefer madness is just to sell the agenda to the serfs.

It's business as usual by the usual suspects. Romney is just their latest tool .

+1

It's just interesting to note that Romney seems to be completely unaware that a huge percentage of Americans support medical marijuana. Not surprising since he seems to be completely unaware of anything people do who make less than a seven figure income.

Over here in the US, more and more younger kids are on pharmaceuticals. Parents and teachers don't seem to care.

I made a thread about Romney's anti-medical marijuana stance back in 2007:

Gov. Romney on medical marijuana

I see he hasn't changed, and that's a shame. Romney is a Mormon, and I'm sure his Mormonism comes into play on this issue. They won't even drink tea because it has caffeine in it.

I know you are correct in a broad sense but wanted to share this: I know a Mormon in a medical marijuana state who prefers Cannabis to pharmaceuticals. He asked his church leader if it was okay. The leader did not know and asked a higher-up in Salt Lake City and the answer came back that it is not expressly forbidden and was a matter between my friend and the Creator. He also told me that curiously it is not the caffeine in tea, it's the tannins. For what it's worth.

Thanks for clearing that up, supertzar.

I guess Romney is just an idiot then. I don't have any other explanation for why he'd be opposed to medical cannabis.

Far from it, sadly. He knows the control system depends on Prohibition to keep the hemp and medical Cannabis industries out of the way. It's very smart - if you work for the controllers.

I'm sure he knows that but he still gets an emotional high from attacking marijuana just like a lot of cops do.

Mormons are interesting. Their religion of course is pure crap, but I've met an awful lot of smart, interesting, fairly progressive (in the good sense not the democrat sense) Mormons.

Romney has said today he supports Israel attacking Iran to take out/stop them producing nuclear weapons.
