I mean take this COCK for instance Andrew Lansley backs lower pay for NHS staff in poorer areas Andrew Lansley, the health secretary, is threatening another controversial revolution in the NHS by proposing that its staff be paid less if they work in poorer parts of the country The cabinet minister is backing a plan for regional pay, which would mean that nurses, midwives, hospital porters, cleaners and paramedics would earn less if they work in the north or the Midlands rather than in the south of England. Official documents reveal that the only exemption backed by the Department of Health would be for highly paid managers working in new bodies established to deliver Lansley's controversial NHS reform programme, widely criticised as a privatisation of the health service. full story here...http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2...aff?CMP=twt_gu |

Private firm 'to run' Nuneaton's George Eliot Hospital
GEORGE Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton could be heading towards a private takeover as hopes of a merger with a neighbouring NHS hospital fade. It is nearly a year since bosses at George Eliot Hospital admitted they needed to find a partner to ensure short-term survival. Now South Warwickshire Foundation Trust – which runs Warwick Hospital and the county’s community health service – fears its popular takeover plan will be sidelined. http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/new...jRuCrM.twitter Serco intend to out source up to 40% of their work to India. Serco make profit from organising the Queen's transport, they operate Air Traffic Control, Child Detention Centres, Prisons, Hospitals, Leisure Centres, Waste Management, Asylum Accommodation and much more besides http://eoin-clarke.blogspot.co.uk/20...-to-40-of.html Something i came across regarding Serco...http://www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/Derr...ail/story.html |

Tragic news for the NHS from yesterday's gathering of CCGs.
Andrew Lansley gave a speech to a gathering of 150 CCGs yesterday where he outlined future funding provision for the 225 separate areas of England. His vision will send shivers down your spine, and I myself have goosebumps as I type it. The moron is about to further enshrine health inequalities by changing the way funding is doled out. Instead of awarding funding based upon the level of deprivation that exists in the various parts of England, the Health Secretary is to in the future award funding based upon the age profile of the regional populations. full story with links here...http://eoin-clarke.blogspot.co.uk/20...esterdays.html |

Lansley's latest plans to block NHS Trusts bidding for contracts
As part of Lansley's efforts to advance the privatisation of the NHS he has commissioned a new report on imposing borrowing limits on all providers, including NHS Trusts, bidding for parts of the NHS. This report is over and above the Health & Social Care Act that has already become law. more here...http://eoin-clarke.blogspot.co.uk/20...block-nhs.html NHS reform risk report to remain secret Health Secretary Andrew Lansley vetoed the publication of a confidential risk assessment of the Government's contentious NHS reforms today. The move to defy an Information Tribunal ruling that the risk register should be released was agreed by the Cabinet this morning. Mr Lansley said he believed in "greater transparency" but that it was also essential to retain "a safe space where officials are able to give ministers full and frank advice in developing policies and programmes".The November 2010 register set out internal Government assessments of the risks posed by the reforms in the Health and Social Care Act, which became law in March after a tortuous passage through Parliament. Labour MP John Healey called for the register to be published under the Freedom of Information Act - a demand backed by Information Commissioner Christopher Graham and then the Information Tribunal. But the Cabinet agreed today that the "ministerial veto" should be used to prevent publication. rest of article here...http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...t-7723112.html |

I dont understand why people are so worried. I was too until I realized that this goes against the EU law, so even if they do pass it, its going to be scrapped by the european court.

I suppose. But imagine this. According to european law, there has to be equal access to health care for all eu citizens in each eu country. Therefore the uk cant have a system where it charges uk citizens and lets other eu nationals get free health care, it would be the biggest mess ever. |

By Jacky Davis, consultant radiologist and co-chair of the NHSCA - 18th June 2012
Last week newspapers reported the results of the British Social Attitudes (BSA) survey which had found a ‘dramatic slump’ in public satisfaction with the NHS. Professor John Appleby, chief economist of the Kings Fund which now commissions the BSA, suggested that the NHS might try to improve its performance, but this looks like a simplistic response to a phenomenon which bears closer examination. According to the survey public satisfaction had fallen from 70% to 58%. Was it really possible that the NHS had deteriorated to such an extent so quickly? NHS reform risk report veto is sign of freedom of information downgrade, says watchdog
Blocking the publication of a report into the risks of NHS reforms is a sign that ministers want to downgrade freedom of information laws, a watchdog has warned. Information Commissioner Christopher Graham launched a scathing criticism of the decision to exercise the Government's veto in a report on the case to Parliament. more here...http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...g-7753820.html |

I keep saying ‘we’, but I’m not really part of the industry anymore, but I still feel it.’
When is an MP a spokesperson for big business, and when is big business an MP? If you can’t tell the difference, then you’re not alone, because some MPs are not so sure themselves. Margot James is the Conservative MP for Stourbridge; having won her seat in the 2010 election to become one of the existing 15% of Tory Mps to come from a lobbying background. However a film taken of her at a lobbying group conference reveals she hasn’t really left it behind? Full story and link to video here...http://socialinvestigations.blogspot...ally-part.html |

‘Private’ hospital contract signed
Published on Thursday 19 July 2012 17:00 THE contract that will see Newmarket Hospital run by a private company was signed on Friday. The hospital is part of the community health services currently provided by Suffolk Community Healthcare, which will be formally transferred to multi-national service company Serco by the autumn in a three-year deal worth £159.9 million. The change is in line with guidance from the Department of Health which stipulates that all primary care trusts, like NHS Suffolk, will no longer directly provide community services and will buy the services instead. Paul Forden, Serco’s managing director of acute care, said: “We are delighted to have been given this opportunity to deliver NHS community health services and invest in improving the care for people in Suffolk. Virgin Healthcare Whistleblower lifts the lid on a world of corruption
Today we know only "Virgin Care", but did you know that there used to be a "Virgin Healthcare"? Richard Branson first formed the latter company in 2005. To make his economic model work, he proposed setting up super clinics in 20 locations throughout the UK. He wanted to attract NHS GP Practices and hundreds of doctors to join him in partnership. http://eoin-clarke.blogspot.co.uk/20...wer-lifts.html |

Tory MP & Health Select Committee Chairman predicts an end to an NHS "Free at the point of use"
Former Tory Health Secretary and now Chairperson of the Health Select Committee, Stephen Dorrell, predicted that more items would no longer be free on the NHS. He was speaking in response to questions that arose following off camera comments made by the Chairman of the Association of Medical Insurance Intermediaries, Wayne Pontin who is reported to have said: "The private health insurance industry should be preparing for an end to free primary care services on the NHS". http://eoin-clarke.blogspot.co.uk/20...committee.html More information here...http://www.hi-mag.com/health-insuran...icle402234.ece and here...http://www.hi-mag.com/health-insuran...icle402229.ece Other news...http://eoin-clarke.blogspot.co.uk/20...-referred.html Health firms told to get set for £20bn NHS bonanza http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2...alth-firms-nhs Further privatisation is inevitable under the proposed NHS reforms http://www.healthprofessionals4nhs.c...2996.full_.pdf |
