Below is an email that I have received notifying various demos against Western aggression towards Syria and Iraq, in case anyone wishes to attend these. There is also a petition:

1) NO WESTERN INTERVENTION IN SYRIA AND IRAN

Tensions are growing across the Middle East. Nato is meeting tomorrow to
discuss its response to Syria shooting down a Turkish plane in its airspace. On
Thursday June 28th US oil sanctions on Iran are set to take effect, followed by
EU sanctions on July 1. Iran has threatened to close the straits of Hormuz in
response. Even in the absence of an immediate conflagration, oil sanctions are
an attempt to weaken Iran and therefore a prelude to war, not an alternative to
it.

There are many signs of covert intervention in both countries as a number of
western and regional powers try to effect regime change. The threat of war is
growing. Stop the War opposes intervention in either country.

This weekend we are asking our local groups and supporters to organise
protests/stalls/petitioning against these threats, and to highlight the moves
towards war. Events are taking place across the country. Check website for

will be in Trafalgar Square protesting outside the National Gallery from 1pm on
Saturday.

2) LONDON PUBLIC MEETING

Syria & Iran: no to western intervention. Speakers include Jeremy Corbyn, Sami
Ramadani, Lindsey German, Neil Clark, Abbas Edelat.

This Thursday 28th 6.30pm Room G3, SOAS, Thornhaugh St, London WC2 0XG.

3) DEMONSTRATE: NO MISSILES IN EAST LONDON
SATURDAY JUNE 30th 1pm, MILE END PARK E3

The government looks like it is going ahead with its plans to site missiles in
east London supposedly to protect the Olympics. No Missiles in our Community is
a demonstration called by Stop the Olympic Missiles. Local people are
protesting about proposals to put the missiles on the roof of blocks of flats
in one of the most densely populated parts of London.

Following a highly successful public meeting the local campaign has called a
protest demonstration this Saturday 30th June at 1pm in Wennington Green, Mile
End (junction of Roman Road and Grove Road). Nearest tube Mile End. Please
