Default A solution to the UK's economic woes

According to The Sunday Times 'Rich List', the top 1000 earners in the UK have enough money that the ENTIRE national deficit could be paid off, still leaving those 1000 with an average of £33million each.

Seeing as many of those 1000 will be banking scum that caused this shit in the first place, can anyone think a single good reason not to do this?

I hope that some day soon common sense will prevail.

Who do you think the debt created by the deficit is owed to?

I have a better idea. Everyone on the planet should pay me a pound and I'll sort everything out.

That's a great idea, just PM me your bank account details and I'll donate the £1 shortly.

lol Its strange trying to imagine being in the situation where the thought of having only 33mill left, and after helping so many people would feel heart sinking.

Ya know, all it takes imo is one millionaire or one billionaire and they could help change the world. They could build a huge business empire but one that looks out for the world and the people, all it requires to change the world is an empathic rich person. They could lead by example and other rich people might follow in their footsteps.
I tell ya, if I was a millionaire/billionaire the world would drastically be changing for the better. I'd build myself a skyscraper and it would be my home and base of operations for my business empire and from there I would spread prosperity throughout the world.

£7 billion is not enough to cover the many trillions of debt that needs paying off!

I'm not sure a quadrillion would be enough! Mind you, and EMP would wipe off a lot of the debt lol

I'm not talking about paying off the debt, I'm talking about creating a business empire that puts people into work and pays them decent wages and in exchange I don't put profit at the top of my agenda. Imagine a business that pays fair wages as opposed to paying managers over the top wages and the lower ladder people minimum wage, imagine a business that doesn't try for mega profits and instead aims for just the right amount of profit to sustain the company and gives bonus' to everyone on an equal footing.
National debt would pay itself off overtime as that beneficial business empire expanded and put money into regular people pockets and my business paid it's taxes so the government can afford its NHS.
I'm not a fan of capitalism but If I had enough money to start a business I could use it to my advantage and enact a more positive global agenda.
