I have lived in this miserable excuse for a country for about 6 months, some years back, and I can honestly say, hand on heart, the Chinese government policies are BARBARIC!! When tourists visit, they are NOT ALLOWED to expierence, the real China. Tourists MUST have everything 5 star, or you will find yourself battling with an unbelievable level of bureaucracy, get followed by poilice, and possibly be arrested and have your passport confiscated! (happened to me when I attempted to travel "peoples class" on a train) So basically DO NOT VISIT! My hear simply breaks for this poor young lady who will have to live for the rest of her life with the memory of TORTURE AND MURDER!! Shame on you China...and believe me...the WORLD is watching! China is NEVER open about its internal policies! What are your thoughts!?

I was just having a conversation the other day with my husband's coworker who had taken a trip to China in the past year or so. He had been over there for only 2 weeks, part of some international athletics event (World Games? I forget the name). Basically he said they were in this city and he noticed something seemed a little off -- then it hit him: he did not see one person in a wheelchair, one really old person, or any homeless people. And this was in a decent-sized city. He had made friends with some of the locals and asked them about his observation. They said that before this big event, the govn't rounded up all the city's "undesirables" and put them on a bus to the next town over. Just dropped them off, with no "round trip ticket" back! He also observed that although this event was in China, only select citizens were actually allowed to come near the arenas. All the people were excited and wanted to see what was going on, but were unable to get even a few blocks from the event. The result is that hundreds of college-age volunteers signed up to do work (for free) just to get a piece of the action. He also noticed that the weather was absolutely beautiful, not a cloud in the sky. He commented on this to his newly-made local friends. They responded in an off-hand way that the govn't was responsible for that by manipulating the weather. My husband's coworker thought they were making a joke... but the more he thought about it later, the more it struck him as an odd thing to say. Basically, he observed how controlled the Chinese were in presenting a certain perception to the world -- at the expense of their own people. Just my 2 cents. I haven't been there myself, so can't speak personally. I know very little about China actually. What brought you to live there for six months? |

Well, the US invades other countries and kills children with drones. Which is worse?

Its is very creepy but true, you hardly eve see a Chinese person in a wheelchair. I noticed this when I was in China, too! I have seen old people, however...if you get really off the beaten track like I did, almost every rural community have elderly people, and they are treated with quiet, very revearred, respect! (how it should be) In China the PSB (Public security bureau) run almost everyhting, that is not ran by their corrupt government. The PSB can be brutal, agressive and assert their authority with an IRON will And its quite disgusting but true, that when a story breaks like this, China covers it up, swiftly and severly! Those of us outside China, as not supposed to know whats REALLY going on...and I find it quite scarey that this country is on the very threshold of being a global super-power!

But China DID invade Tibet in the 50's and today this wonderfull country with rich culture and thousands of years of history, is still being sevearly erroded by the vast, greedy Chinese Dragon. The present Dali Lama is likely to be the last...which is so very sad!

This thread is about the barbarity of the Chinese government...and not about the oil greedy USA, which I equally hate too!

Are you one of those people who views compassion as a personality flaw? You do seem to be sadly lacking in any sense of humanity.

In the US there have been at least 3 or 4 cases in the last year or so where governmental authorities stole children from their parents and forced the children to take toxic chemotherapy chemicals. At least 2 of these children died.
For most barbaric country in the world, I have no doubt it is Israel, but the US is in the top 10. I doubt China is in the top 20. |

It sounds really bad and it is bad but I think Japanese government is worse by killing tens of thousands of children right now.

True but they have killed around 70 million of their own citizens in the last 60 years.

Right or wrong we DO NOT have a WORLD GOVERNMENT and it isnt really my business what they do to secure and maintain their OWN Sovereignty. As has been mentioned- The USA is probably the worst for human rights abuses both worldwide and in our own Nation. Private Prisons and Slave Labor is the game the USA plays all while pointing its fingers at others who do not have our "Freedom". The USA is corporate controlled and declining in Power. China can do what it wishes IMO. Last edited by bluegrazz; 17-06-2012 at 12:03 AM. |
