Or will your kids grow up and realise mummy was in fact perfect in everyway , just like they thought throughout there lives??
If you read my post you would have noticed I said I told them when I mess things up which means I know I am not perfect but I think that someone that explains about messing things up and not being perfect is a better role model than a celebrity persona that appears to be perfect...

I've spent most of my marriage wondering why my husband wasn't everything I expected him to be and its taken me this long to understand that imperfection is in fact perfection, this is how we have been created.
We strive for perfection but we need to be shown that losing and messing up is part of the process of being human.

My role model of a man would have been a disney prince - now I see that the Beast from Beauty and the Beast is a better role model.
For until she truly loves him for his bad and ugly qualities she doesn't get to see him as the prince.

As should all mum's - that doesn't mean you are perfect - it means you explain things to them when you mess up as well as when things go great.

Looking to celebrities or strangers for a role model isn't as beneficial as you think because you don't get to see the whole person.

Yes I agree there. Also talent doesn't always equate with character.

Lara Croft, Lisa Simpsons.
Like the above poster pointed out there is duality in everything including every single one of us. No one is perfect. I personally look at everyone in my life as a form of role model. I feel deeply flawed sometimes, and watching other people respond and react to situations in ways i have never even thought of enables me to be a better person. To constantly learn from others and not just use my preprogrammed responses. So in short everyone is my role model.

It's still quite natural and inevitable to take people as role models, with all their imperfections. It's something we naturally do as part of finding out more about ourselves and our world. Although it's not inevitable that we'll then take the negative traits on board; I loved Amy Winehouse's work but I wouldn't for one minute want to emulate her lifestyle.

Margaret McEleny.

After having attended my son's end of term prize giving yesterday, I just had to give this lady a mention. She is an inspiration to anyone, not only women, and she is very much community orientated

Although in ill health she still visited all the schools to present sport's prizes for the children and coaches young disabled children.

She shines.

People like that just make me feel inadequate and humble. The show more 'fight' than me just getting out of bed. Never mind facing up to 'life'

I know, me to, I feel like a fish out of water most times

Seriously though, it gives me a really good feeling knowing that people like Maggie are there, they give this world a 'lift' , a much needed one imo.

Smile Aung San Suu Kyi

"Aung San Suu Kyi MP AC (Burmese~ born 19 June 1945) is a Burmese opposition politician and chairperson of the National League for Democracy (NLD) in Burma. In the 1990 general election, the NLD won 59% of the national votes and 81% (392 of 485) of the seats in Parliament. She had, however, already been detained under house arrest before the elections. She remained under house arrest in Burma for almost 15 of the 21 years from 20 July 1989 until her most recent release on 13 November 2010, becoming one of the world's most prominent political prisoners"
