ongst the down and outs etc at the Saly or YM, but beats dying from cold etc.
The people who run/volunteer at those places are brave, kind souls (how many hereeternal spirit quote: I think most people past a certain age know other people who would've had a choice of freezing their bollocks off homeless in winter (possibly die out there) or get a room in the Salvation Army or YMCA.

A friend of mind a few years ago (who I spoke to a while ago) told me he was roughing it in the woods ten mins walk from mine (which I never knew about, if I had of known he could have stayed at mine obviously, I told him)

Quote:
But his head was in such bad place he didn't call here, I hadn't seen him for many years, so maybe he thought he wasn't welcome, this is what can happen when people have had a breakdown etc. They don't think straight and can imagine friend are enemies, or don't care etc. And can't cope with the authorities
(trying to get housing etc)
He spent a year in the Salvation Army because that's how long it took him to
get a flat, god knows what would have happened to him if he hadn't have got room at Saly Army.
He was always outspoken in RE lessons at school saying prove God exists arguing with the teacher etc. But wasn't foolish enough to look a gift horse in the mouth and refuse Christian hospitality when the chips were down.

Also knew a drug addict who was in and out of Prison and YMCA. Becoming homeless, an alcoholic and losing one's mind could happen to more or less anyone, a horrible thought ending up am would take pity possibly put their own safety in danger and work amongst down and outs drug addicts - alcoholics etc.

Thanks for posting. So many take the Christian spirit for granted.

My Dad was a Christian. Rarely went to church but he had the spirit. He could not pass a beggar on the street. Always going to see sick people and even desperate people in prison.

He suffered for a year, paralyzed from a stroke. You know what? After Dad died I SAW him. I could not have imagined the happiness on his face. He was in the prime of his life and it was incredible the way his face just glowed.

The Egyptian Book of the Dead says: What have you done with your life that you deserve to live on in the next?

Drakul and eternal_spirit I think this is the essence of the thread. I have also known friends whose only option left was to seek such refuge.

The only positive I can honestly say exists in this religion now is that people still manage to do good and not realize their religion tells them they are the only prim and proper ones pleasing God. Because if most christians did realize this is what their doctrine suggested, they would want it changed. Embarrasing, really.

This is the cost of trying to sell salvation to the world. One would think its written in the universe somewhere, or grows on trees, the way it totally hipnotizes those wishing to have life after they die.

The cost of the salvation package is to sell the idea that we are seperated from God. Without this salvation idea, all good deeds would simply be what they are, and they would build up the charachter of a person just like they are intended to. And quite honestly God isn't a dumbo, and wouldn't actually choose a dumbo salvation plan, that creates a stooopid scenario where only "saved" ones can do goody things that please him. God's simply not an asshole. I mean, grow up christian fundie bigots, once and or all. Cheers.

What have you done with your life that you deserve to live on in the next? Is the ESSENCE of Christianity.

Essence = from the ancient Indo Aryan root ESSE = He IS or It IS

Or - it all depends on what IS is.

Just about everyone who posts here lives in a Christian country. But they don't appreciate. They like to pretend that all the pagans were just the pure innocents dancing around in fields with flowers in their hair.

Was that before or after a child had its throat cut and the blood poured upon the ground to ensure a good harvest? Or was buried alive under the foundation of the new temple?

I pretend nothing. And I certainly wasn't proclaiming that pagans as you put them, are any better than anyone else so stop trying to put words in my fucking mouth.

I will say however, that Christains are no better than the next one. As far as I'm concerned all religions are cults in one way or another, who make the rules up as they go along.

the elders asked me to help them, since i have taught two generations of their children.
i have advocated for the rights of all young people in our community, first nations and white.
