Though this is a system that claims their priority is to help. That's great! But, its a largely flawed system. The trails and errors of a drug, like said, can can cause problems that meld into physical problems, which is a double spiral down if you are dealing with mental issues. |

It's primarily about selling drugs. If someone gets better, great, but it's not necessary. That food and exercise aren't even considered shows this. You wanna see the shit get fed, and the amount of junk they have access to. I met there a competitive bodybuilder, who came in in fine shape ( I saw photos), and was 30 odd stone obese when I left. Think he'd been there about 4 years when I left. A few times I fed him the boxing mitts for a little workout and he was like a different guy the rest of the day, happier than I ever saw him. Intense exercise seems a powerful way to improve mental health, but it's free, so they aren't likely to explore it as treatment. The nursing staff were pretty genuine people, but they don't make the policies, and they seem to mostly think what that are doing is right, tho I met a few silent dissenters.

it's quite shocking when you see in hospitals
the vending machines full of junk food.

There was a bank of 4 vending machines right at the bottom of the stairs where the patients passed on their way out for fag or whatever. Junk is a bit harder to come by if your not allowed off the ward but they still load up at the shop. The hospital even had a burger king! The dinners are shitty as well, don't know if true but I heard they spend more per head in prison. There's tons of biscuits etc too.

in my view,
mental institutions are not about health but about "law". by the way, and on topic, here are some good articles about psychopaths: http://montalk.net/matrix/157/spiritless-humans Quote:

I do concur on the meals though - it's a miserable state unless you're in paeds.
