Taking just one of those stories

Stratfor and former Goldman Sachs director start investment fund. Stratfor CEO and founder George Friedman and former Goldman Sachs regional director Shea Morenz plan to launch their own investment fund, Stratcap. According to a Friedman email, Morenz has invested $2 million in Stratfor, and “more in Stratcap.” The venture “would allow [Stratfor] to utilize the intelligence we were gathering about the world in a new but related venue — an investment fund. Where we had previously advised other hedge funds. We would now have our own, itself fully funded by Shea.” Specifically, Stratcap will use “Stratfor's intelligence and analysis to trade in a range of geopolitical instruments, particularly government bonds, currency, and the like in the world's emerging markets.” Thus Morenz, a former Texas Longhorns quaterback, provides the capital while Stratfor provides the intelligence, i.e., inside information. Whether this enterprise would be susceptible to insider trading accusations will depend on how exactly Stratcap plans to trade its information and the sources it utilizes.

Money quote: “We have also been asked to help the United States Marine Corps and other government intelligence organizations to teach them how Stratfor does what it does, and train them in becoming government Stratfors.”

Self confessed plot to use insider trading to exploit foreign governments and businesses.

Arms dealers Russia and Israel sold out own customers. In the months prior to Georgia’s 2008 war with Russia, the Georgians were scrambling to replace some unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) they bought from Israel that had become compromised. The Russians were able to hack the UAVs and force them down because the Israelis gave Moscow the data links. In exchange, the Russians provided the Israelis with the codes for Iran’s Russian-made Tor-M1 missile launchers. The Georgians tried to buy some UAVs from a Mexican company called Idra, but were turned away because the sale would have caused tension between Mexico and Russia.

The leak also revealed that Turkey has been sharing intelligence with Israel on Russia’s S-300 missile launchers, which they’ve been “cracking” for about eight years, in the event Iran buys them from the Russians.

Money quote: “The Mexican government is now paying some $25m for UAVs from Israel. Idra is basically like WTF, but the reason is basically corruption. There is a deal b/w the Mexican interior ministry and the Israelis where they're getting a hefty kickback.”

Wow. Israeli Authorities are really coming over as a bunch of treacherous double-dealers.

On that Bhopal story....

Dow Chemical hired US intelligence companies to monitor the activities of protestors belonging to groups demanding justice for victims of the Bhopal disaster in India, according to emails published by whistleblower website WikiLeaks. The methyl isocyanate gas leak from the Bhopal pesticide plant in 1984 killed thousands and injured over half a million and victims are still pressing for further compensation from the US chemical giant.

'The material shows how a private intelligence agency works and how they target individuals for their corporate and government clients,' WikiLeaks stated. 'For example, Stratfor monitored and analysed the online activities of Bhopal activists, including [comedy spoof act] the Yes Men, for the US chemical giant Dow.'

Meanwhile...

In the lead-up to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Coca-Cola asked a private U.S. intelligence firm to dig up information on the activities of the animal-activist group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, and disruptions they could be planning, according to internal emails released Monday from the WikiLeaks whistleblower website.


Coca-Cola wanted the Texas-based company, Stratfor, to find out what kind of support PETA had in Canada, what its methods were for carrying out protests and the extent to which PETA might be connected to anarchist groups

The "global intelligence files," WikiLeaks said, will "reveal the inner workings of a company that fronts as an intelligence publisher, but provides confidential intelligence services to large corporations, such as Bhopal's Dow Chemical Co., Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and government agencies, including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Defence Intelligence Agency."

This is a big agency working expressly agaisnt the people and for the corporations and the military industrial complex.

What’s more, there have been reports that Homeland Security played an active role in coordinating the nationwide crackdown on the Occupy movement last November – putting the federal government in the position of targeting its own citizens in the name of national security. There is not much of a bureaucratic leap, if history is any guide, between a seemingly benign call for "continuous situational awareness" and the onset of a covert and illegal campaign of domestic surveillance.

the conversation centered on Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak praising the news of deadly munitions blasts at a base of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards.

“I think this is a diversion. The Israelis already destroyed all the Iranian nuclear infrastructure on the ground weeks ago,” one intelligence official wrote in an email dated November 14, 2011. “The current ‘let’s bomb Iran’ campaign was ordered by the EU leaders to divert the public attention from their at home financial problems. It plays also well for the US since Pakistan, Russia and N. Korea are mentioned in the report. ”

One other Stratfor official allegedly indicated a similar finding.

“Israeli commandos in collaboration with Kurd forces destroyed few underground facilities mainly used for the Iranian defense and nuclear research projects,” he wrote on November 13, 2011. “Even if the Israelis have the capabilities and are ready to attack by air, sea and land, there is no need to attack the nuclear program at this point after the commandos destroyed a significant part of it.”

So there you have it: Israel illegaly attacking Iran and the news and MSM not reporting it. There is clearly one version of current events for the public, and another for these people.

Who wants war with Iran?

An email sent by Chris Farnham, senior officer for Stratfor, to an internal unnamed source inside the company titled "Israel/Iran Barak Hails Munitions Blast in Iran" provides details about who would benefit from an Israeli attack on Iran, and say such a plan would be motivated by economic factors.

According to the email, sent on November 13, 2011, supporters of an Israeli-led attack are Russia, India and Saudi Arabia, while the EU and China stand against such plans, mainly for economic reasons.

"Not many people know that Russia is one of Israel's largest military partners and India is Israel's largest client. If a direct conflict between Iran and Israel erupts, Russia and Saudi Arabia will gain the advantages on oil increasing prices. On the other hand, China and Europe are expected to lose from an oil crisis as a result of a conflict," the email says

Farnham said that an attack on the Iranian nuclear facilities would last only 48 hours and be so devastating it would lead to regime change.

"Based on Israeli plans, the attack on Iran will last only 48 hours but will be so destructive that Iran will be unable to retaliate or recover and the government will fall. It is hard to believe that Hamas or Hezbollah will try to get involved in this conflict," Farham wrote.

The Stratfor analyst then reveals that despite claims propagated in the media, an attack on Iran is unlikely since Israeli commandos have already targeted major parts of Iran's nuclear programme.

"In the open media many are pushing and expecting Israel to launch a massive attack on Iran. Even if the Israelis have the capabilities and are ready to attack by air, sea and land, there is no need to attack the nuclear programme at this point after the commandos destroyed a significant part of it."

Farnham said an attack would be motivated by economic factors rather than Iran's nuclear programme.

"If a massive attack on Iran happens soon, then the attack will have political and oil reasons and not nuclear. It is also very hard to believe that the Israelis will initiate an attack unless they act as a contractor for other nations or if Iran or its proxies attack first," the email concludes.

The cat is not only out of the bag, it has moved out of town.

Former National Party senator and businessman Bill O'Chee has been revealed as the most prolific Australian informant of a controversial private global intelligence company that is the target of a new campaign by WikiLeaks.

Intelligence reports of the company, Stratfor, identify Mr O'Chee as ''Source CN 65'', the author of a steady stream of confidential economic and political reports since 2008.

More significantly Mr O'Chee passed to Stratfor advance information relating to President Obama's 2011 speech to the Australian Parliament obtained from what he described as a source ''in a very high govt position''. This included confirmation that the President's visit would be accompanied by agreements on ''pre-positioning US equipment in Australia, increasing access to test ranges bases and conducting more joint exercises and training''.

''The US want increased military access and co-operation that will allow the US to broaden its posture in the region. The shared base idea is part of US efforts to diversify its Asian military footprint in a politically agreeable way,'' Mr O'Chee reported.

That story was indeed reported, but looking at the email itself it appears that it is inconclusive. In the core MSM I suspect, where reporting anything regarding the actual content of tghe leaks this is what we will see a lot of: safe-but-newsworthy.
