Taal Volcano’s (14.0000°N, 120.9833°E) seismic network detected one (1) volcanic earthquake during the past 24 hours. Field measurements on 20 September 2011 at the eastern sector of the Main Crater Lake yielded slightly increased water temperature of 33.6°C from 33.5°C, water level at a steady 1.74 meters and more acidic pH of 2.72 from 2.79 as compared to previous readings. Ground deformation survey (precise leveling) on the Volcano Island last 21 – 28 July 2011 indicated that the volcano edifice is slightly deflated compared with 01 – 10 June 2011, but is nonetheless still inflated compared with baseline data. Baselines calculated from continuous GPS (Global Positioning System) data for the period February to August 2011 also recorded a very slight but steady inflation of the northeast flank of the Volcano Island. Carbon dioxide (CO2) emission recorded on 27 June 2011 at the Main Crater Lake was 1,821 tonnes per day, which is above background levels.

At that time, the tiltmeter record an abrupt inflation of nearly 50 microradioans. By comparison, DI events cause tilt changes of about 5 microradians. A GPS station on Pu`u `O`o recorded accelerated movement toward the northwest starting at about the same time as the inflation. "

The Canary Island of El Hierro on Saturday night suffered its largest earthquake so far in the current run of tremors which some fear are pointing to a forthcoming volcanic eruption on the island. The quake measured 4.3 on the Richter scale, and the epicentre was located a kilometre from the southern coast of the island at a depth of 13 kilometres. It led to some landslides in the municipality of El Pinar, but there are no reports of any injuries. The National Geographic Institute, IGN, has recorded 890 quakes in the week of October 1 – 7, most of them located at sea to the SW of the island. A yellow alert for a possible volcanic eruption remains in place, and despite this latest large tremor, the experts still consider that a volcanic eruption is not imminent.

Hierro that could take out East Coast Usa (not that ide like to see its people suffer, But America does need a kick up the arse), Or Katla that could ground planes and give us some sunshine.

Icelands Katla update...

Experts are warning that an eruption could be imminent at an even more powerful Icelandic volcano than the one that paralysed air traffic last year. Seismologists are nervously watching rumblings beneath Katla which could spew an ash cloud dwarfing the 2010 eruption that cost airlines two billion dollars (Ł1.27 billion) and drove home how vulnerable modern society is to the whims of nature. Brooding over rugged moss-covered hills on Iceland's southern edge, Katla is a much bigger beast than the nearby Eyjafjallajokul volcano, which blasted ash all over Europe for several weeks in an eruption that local scientist Pall Einarsson describes nonetheless as "small". Named after an evil troll, Katla has a larger magma chamber than Eyjafjallajokul's. Its last major eruption in 1918 continued more than a month, turning day into night, starving crops of sunlight and killing off some livestock. The eruption melted some of the ice-sheet covering Katla, flooding surrounding farmlands with a torrent of water that some accounts have said measured as wide as the Amazon. Now, clusters of small earthquakes are being detected around Katla, which means an eruption could be imminent, seismologists say. The earthquakes have been growing in strength, too.

After a long period of magnitude three tremors, a magnitude four quake was detected last week. "It is definitely showing signs of restlessness," said Mr Einarsson, a professor of geophysics at the University of Iceland. Teams of seismologists and geologists at the university are tracking the spike in seismic activity and working with disaster officials to prepare communities near Katla like Vik, a small town of some 300 people that is flanked by black sand beaches. Civil defence authorities have been holding regular meetings with scientists. Disaster officials have also drafted an evacuation plan and set aside temporary housing, but many fear they may have less than an hour to evacuate once the volcano erupts. Iceland sits on a large volcanic hot spot in the Atlantic's mid-oceanic ridge. Eruptions, common throughout Iceland's history, are often triggered by seismic activity when the Earth's plates move and magma from deep underground pushes its way to the surface. The longer pressure builds up, the more catastrophic an eruption can be. Records show that Katla usually has a large eruption twice a century. Since its last eruption was almost exactly 93 years ago, it is long overdue for another, seismologists say.

Icelanders are getting nervous as they mark the anniversary of Katla's last blast. "We've been getting calls recently from people concerned that Katla is about to erupt because it erupted ... in 1918 on October 12," said Einar Kjartansson, a geophysicist at the Icelandic Meteorological Office. "As scientists we don't see that much of a correlation in the date but there is most definitely increased activity. The question is whether it calms down after this or whether there is an eruption." Of Iceland's more than 22 volcanoes, seven are active and four are particularly active - including Katla and Hekla. Although it does not pose the same flood risk as Katla because it's not situated beneath an icecap, Hekla is one of Iceland's most active volcanoes and sits in the path of most international flight patterns. Like Katla, Hekla is also overdue for a large eruption and could produce a disruptive and dangerous ash cloud that, in addition to disrupting air travel, could lower overall temperatures across continents by blocking out sunlight for days or weeks.

Reports speak of a violent volcanic eruption of Mount Shiveluch on Russia’s Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula. Smoke and ash from the volcano have climbed to 10 kilometres, sparking no-fly warnings for the surrounding area. Snow around the crater is rapidly melting, creating mudslides. Shiveluch supports a caldera of 1.5 kilometres in diameter. Its current activity period started in 1980

Geyser-like eruptions have broken the ocean surface at El Hierro volcano in the Canary Islands. The eruptions plume contained ash, magmatic material and gas and reached a height of 20 m. Geyser-like eruptions began on 6th November and occurred strongly every 30-60 minutes. Strong smell of gas was noticed by residents near the coast. On the evening of 6th November ash and steam from the eruption site reached a height of 100 m. The volcano is possibly in a transition between submarine and Surtseyan eruption style. The bubbling at the eruption site is caused by the release of magma generated gases.

Why do you think Hawaii?

It is more likely to be Indonesia/Philipines way. For example the earliest recorded was Krakatoa (baby Krakatoa is emitting at the moment) The year previous to Krakatoa was Mount Tambora, the biggest eruption known to man which gave us the famous "year without summer". The majority of the worlds super eruptions have been in this archaepelego, and to my knowledge, Hawaii has never produced a VEI 7/8 eruption.
