Default Tiny numbers and letters in the eyes of Mona Lisa

"Even in close up the numbers and letters are not visible and must be placed under a microscope to become visible."

Now, the obvious question (not asked by this article), is how did Da Vinci physically manage to paint letters and numbers so small, that they can only be seen under a 21st century microscope?

In typical Daily Mail style it can't even agree with itself in the one article.

After stating:

Quote:
Even in close up the numbers and letters are not visible and must be placed under a microscope to become visible.
It changes the story two paragraphs later by saying:

Quote:
Today Silvano Vinceti, president of the Committee, said: 'To the naked the symbols are not visible but with a magnifying glass they can clearly be seen.
Interesting story regardless.

But how deranged are some people?

Quote:
Mr Vinceti, a Renaissance cold case art historian, is part of the group asking French authorities for permission to exhume Da Vinci's remains from his tomb at Amboise Castle in the Loire Valley.

They want to see if the artist's skull is there so that they can try and recreate his face and establish if the Mona Lisa is in fact a self portrait of the artist as many people believe.
They want to go to the extreme and horrendous length of digging up the poor guy's corpse just to see whether the Mona Lisa is a self-portrait?

Who the hell cares?

He was one seriously talented man if all that is true.

Just been looking at pics of his journals, would of took me a life time to just draw the pictures of the skeleton arms.. seriously detailed drawings considering they were just examples in his journals.

Amazing.

If anybody could do something like that, it would be Da Vinci.

I wonder if the letters and numbers translate into text speak for something?

Why does his supposed drawing of a tank look uncanningly like a UFO.

I've just done a google image search, no images there yet, probably will be soon, that is unless the whole story is more Daily Mail bullshit.

The letters spell out the name Sarah Gilbert the numbers are her birthdate. They look so much alike. There case solved the painter must have had a vision into the future of Sarah Gilbert, or God decided to create a girl that looks like Mona Lisa. Whatever happened the whole thing is odd.

"The Dan Brown Code" by Dennis Neuenkirchen is a very interesting and amusing article, that questions the accuracy of Dan Brown's research about Paris. It is on one of the essential Parisian websites Bonjour Paris . Run by Sarah Gilbert herself a highly acclaimed novelist and writer.

So just some rubbish PR stunt to promote this girl's book, then?

Why would anyone want to make such a thing up?

In your experience of life, have you found that people make up things?

I'd like to see some evidence.

Me too. Haven't seen any as yet but I'd expect journalists to be able to come up with some pics of the magnified section showing the numbers and letters etc.

Otherwise it is merely churnalism. Journalists should never merely repeat what they are told. Any muppet with a typewriter can do that.
