MIDDLETOWN -- A gas line has exploded by the Kleen Energy plant on River Road. "They were doing some kind of testing, we don't know what kind, but something obviously went wrong and there was a large explosion," said Middletown Police Sgt. Chuck Jabobeucci.
About 100 employees were working at the 620-megawatt gas-fired plant.
"They were doing the firing of the engines this morning and so something went wrong and it blew up and flames came shooting up almost as tall as that stack," she said.
