I recently got a new blackberry curve to upgrade my old phone. In the settings is Geolocation. It says its so the phone can determine its location. Bollocks! I switched it on like a right dafty until i realised that Geolocation cannot be so the phone can determine its location. The phone already knows its location. phones send out a request to your network and with it, the phones location. the vodafone server sends your request via satellite to where ever on the net and the location information your device sent to your network with the internet request you originally initiated. Even google maps knows where your device is without Geolocation being switched on. Therefore I have came to the conclusion that Geolocation is just a Big Brother software. Call me crazy if you like but this is my conclusion.
