I agree WUB, but the problem is, when you state a view (especially when it is contentious), it attracts - understandably - many questions and alternate arguments, which I feel one has a duty to respond to (after "opening the can of worms", so to speak).

Also, if we are here to learn, and not just lecture, as you rightly say, we must engage in this practice. I have sometimes found very educational the questions / objections people pose to me, as they help me refine my position.

But as you also correctly say, most of the time responses are just aggressive personal attacks, which helps no-one. Hence, why we must make more use of this forum!

I agree with you too, cat, and I did have a thought of "promoting" this little forum on the main board (as I think the reason most members don't post here is that they have forgotten about it!). This also would encourage other good posters we may have forgotten to "apply". But I didn't know how you'd feel about that.
