We are about three weeks behind you Gris and the weather this year overall is much cooler than last year, our gerkhins are taking a knock back with a few lost already, needs to be a tad warmer for them.
Last year we got caught knapping one night with a minus 2.5 and a few spuds got a bit burned hut recovered afterwards and the runner beans got totally zonked, but at the end of the year it all balances out.
We use grass cuttings in the bottom of our trenches to lower the PH a little, we get it from the local village green for now't after the council have mowed it.
The compost is good and rich this year so we are digging plenty in and around where the plants themselves will be, this year we are planting all last years seeds collected.
I just hope it warms up, it won't be that many more weeks before the longest day is upon us once again.
