It is actually really interesting. Yes, they are throwing the poor beggars in at the deepend by giving them churches in really quite chavvy areas, but the Jamaican guy (episode 1) really went out and met people. The priest from Malawi (episode 2) had a far harder deal in Glasgow (!!!) but he at least managed to get some to turn up.
What it reminds me of is just how Christianity is slipping from a place in British society, being replaced by a mixture of secularism and hedonism.
