Or as my brother calls it, "What not to watch"

I was watching the tv with the wife last night and she really wanted to watch the show, i have heard of it before and although i wasnt interested i thought i would see what it was about.

For those that havent seen the show it is about these two women that choose volunteers to re-style into how they 'should' look.

It didnt take long for me to feel disgusted with what was happening. I was explaining to the wife that they are telling people that it is important that you look 'good' and how others percieve you. Also at the end of the show they go to a party with all their family and friends and they celebrate the "new" them. What the hell, who cares about a new dress and a bit of makeup they are already beautifull and should celebrate that fact every day.

My wifes argument was that they always felt better themselves afterwards. I explained the reason they felt down in the first place is the media and 'celebrities' make people feel ugly and that a new pant suit is the answer to their problems, which it is not.

The show also encourages people to go out and spend thousands (that most do not have) on clothes so you will be accepted.

How about a show that teaches people they are unique, that they are infinitly beautiful, to let go of all the propoganda, their ego and negativity and become free.

I dont think it can ever be a 'new' them. How can it be truly you, if someone else has told you what to wear and how to act? Doesn't make any sense! These people have been forced into someone else's style, and made to think it is theirs alone. Total bullshit.

There's too many of these programmes on TV. They encourge their targets to worry about what other people think of them. People are made to venture into these horrible fashion high street stores and try on clothes that every other person buys. It's all about getting people to dress like everyone else. None of these programmes encourage people to sort themselves out and look deep within to feel better. It goes to prove that society is more interested in appearance than anything else about someone.

Tank tops, vests, and those fucking bowling shirts that stand up comedians used to wear in the late 90's/early millenium, and anything with buttons on them.

It's a crappy boring show just like most things on Discovery/TLC nowadays. When did Discovery turn into a decorate/tidy-up/dress-up/make-up channel?

Utter rubbish.
