There was a period of time a couple years ago that all these female celebrities were all getting thinner and thinner to the point they looked anorexic. Why did they all at the same moment do this. Obviously they were in on it together because most of them were in the same celebrity clique. The Lindsay Lohan's, Nicole Richies, the Olsen girl, and even Angelina Jolie was in on it. At the same time these celebs were engaged in excessive partying and drinking/drugging.
They were most likely being controlled and minipulated to engage in this grotesque treament of their bodies by some unknown or known source. The media ate it up and pushed thousdands of photos and hundreds of stories through the mainstream media. Magazines such as Star and programs like TMZ were all over it and couldn't stop the "Is she sick" thing.
Publicity stunt...yes. Although there is always more to the story. These celebs influenced thousands of young girls and made them consciously aware of their bodies and their physical appearance/image.

Nicole Ritchie also lost her personality when she lost her weight.

From Springmeier:
"Some of the traumas are done for specific medical reasons. For instance, the person is starved by only allowing for instance 300 calories per day for say a small woman of 125 lbs. Sugar & proteins are severely limited, so that the brain is starved into submission. Water deprivation, which is taught to parents who raise Monarch slaves, is used from time to time on slaves to raise the brain’s temperature which happens when the brain swells from lack of water. When the brain gets woozy & overheated it hallucinates and has a hard time remembering events."

They were all anorexic at the same time because being a size 0 was fashionable. Now it is not. Some designers now have plus sized models to wear their clothes.

Huh? Pardon me, but I find this post to not represent the situation well at all.
And please do not take this as if I am trying to single you out, but I read this post and came away with the impression that you believe one can 'catch' anorexia whenever 'thin is in' and get rid of it whenever 'being curvier' becomes the current aesthetic value in society.
I've been through hell and back fighting eating disorder(s) during all my adult life and I gotta tell you it was not some fad I went through, because I've been through this almost constantly and as soon as I started acting upon this initiative to starve myself until I die.
My anorexia -- I, now, know -- was triggered by this idea that I needed to get rid of my body to escape this shitty world. It was a slow form of suicide, not a wish to be size 0.
ETA: I cannot claim to know what was going on with those celebrities highlighted previously in the thread, but I am not going to assume their struggles with weight and image issues were not derived from an inner desire to just disappear, because they experienced so much pain that starvation seemed like a good idea.
Look at Keira, she's still looking like she's anorexic. Same can be said about Nicole Richie.
I don't care if the blogs are saying Nicole looks normal now, because to me she doesn't, even after giving birth twice, she looks like she restricts food and cranks up the exercise.
Need I say more about how Angelina and Lindsay Lohan continue to look extremely underweight?
Clearly they are still suffering from an eating disorder, even if the fashion world says it's trying to distance itself from heroin chic.

I am sorry but I didn't mean to imply that. I was just commenting on that time a few years ago when the media made a big deal about skinny being fashionable and when there were quite a few extremely skinny celebrities.
I know that anorexia is more than just a vain person wanting to be thin. I have had friends who have suffered from this and it is a miserable existence. I wouldn't wish this on anybody.

No apologies needed, Lauren.
I think I misunderstood your post and mistook it for something else.
It is true that the media promoted these images quite a bit then. The entertainment news shows and tabloids always zoomed in those extreme looks, half fascinated, half admonishing these ladies, but I didn't buy their concern for one second.
They must know those images are triggering and yet that's all they talked about, so it makes no sense that the media was a concerned party in this situation, because if they were, they'd definitely not feed it by giving these celebrities a lot of publicity, which, hey, is good business for them.

Thanks Greydove for putting that together. Yes these girls are traumatized and there's simply no way Knightley looks healthy. Her chest is concave.
French society pushes this look on women too and I've seen 17 year olds in stores in tears because they're not bone thin. It is mind control, whether by the society or in the case of stars by the entertainment industry.
Thing about anorexia is it creates or really is an anti-food obsession that causes these girls to believe they're fat when they are rail thin. And I suspect Monarch programming instills this early and these girls probably never escape. Or spend their lives feeling fat if normal weight.
Then magazines show young girls this is how to look.
