This man is probably the finest paranormal writer I've ever encountered and I've read all his books now. He's traveled the world looking for the Chupacabras, the Cornish Owlman, the Beast of Bodmin and almost anything cryptozoological you can name. His interests and experise are not confined to cryptozology as a single discipline, but rather how it also fits in to the general paranormal like ghosts and ET's etc as "zooform phenomena".

Downes books are enormously entertaining, even if you don't agree with his views. The CFZ regularly experience the most amazing adventures all over the world and hilarious situation develop that downes records in his witty style.

Hi Hag,

Cheers, Ellis.

I hope they do a podcast of it for CFZ-TV! I really enjoyed their one about the Ninki-nanka of Gambia. I've read Richard Freeman's book "Dragons- More Than a Myth" too. Freeman has a very different style to Downes, but still addresses Cryptozoology in the same way: how some of it fits in with the general paranormal.

The hilarious and charismatic Jonathan Downes at last year's Fortean Times Unconvention. Here he relates his new theories on the Chupacabra, ones he also describes in his new book Island of Paradise. He readily admits that his theory falls short of explaining the entire phenomenon; I'm glad of that because many others would be less generous with the information he's acquired.

Don't be put off by his apparent ridiculing of the "paruh-norr-mull". Downes is not a militant Skepper and he has many friends in the UFOlogical and conspiracy world:cool:.
