View Full Version : X Factor Cheryl Cole Nazi Symbolism

My wife encouraged me to watch a performance on 'The X Factor' because she was raving about how good it was.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JI6cjhd-hoA
I was reluctant because I expected some ball-less, soul-less, corporate manufactured pop-shite.
Well - not only was it shite, I also found it quite disturbing.
It was called 'Fight for this Love' - which was incongruous for a start, but it was performed by dancers in military uniforms. It immediately made me think of Nazis. The weirdest thing was perhaps the epaulettes of Cheryl's uniform. They appeared to be covered in broken glass - like you see on top of walls to stop people climbing over. I did some reading and this is what I identified as Nazi symbolism.
Colours: Red, Black and White
Broken Glass: a reference to Krystalnacht - 'night of the broken glass'
Use of spotlights: Ok, this might be normal for stage shows, but these were more like searchlights used at nuremburg
Lighting strike: or runic S - the supposedly random patterns being flashed on the screen behind kept forming this symbol.
White grid effect: possibly remeniscent of a spider's web - apparently used in conjunction with the image of broken glass?
Also, this episode of the X Factor took place on the weekend between two significant nazi dates: October 16th - death of Rosenburg/October 19th death of Goering.

Yep I can see what you mean. The imagery and use of concepts is like an amalgamation of 1984 and a Nuremburg rally! The message I take to be war propaganda to be honest. "We got to fight for the love" its a common theme of lovely fluffy nice Capitalism to think its all about freedom and caring. I thought the support dances looked suspiciously like Chinese soldiers uniforms?
Getting the public ready for the conscriptions that are coming when we go to war with Iran no doubt.
Hi! The X factor logo they have on the main stage of the show has always reminded me of this Nazi symbol

I've thought that ever since I saw it, that the X logo on the stage on the show looks like the Nazi Eagle symbol. You can see it on the screens at the end of that video.

Well I felt sick after watching for a few minutes so that's something, and there was definitely a nazi theme.
But its so annoying to watch these 'girl bands' that are full of overly made up slutty creatures who are treated like actual musicians with talent. I mean it would be one thing if they were diverse in some way, but they're all uniformly porno styled..............and..................
NO ONE CARES!!!
The first comment under that video was:
"SHE IZ SOOO FRECKIN HOT>>>>>>>>>!!!"
I thought it was a music show, not a lad mag talent contest

^^Probably already do they just haven't publicized it.
How about the twins in black and red with helmeted, faceless dancers, also suggestive of nazi themes

I must admit that I was a little concerned about the 'broken glass' on the shoulders of Cheryl's 'costume'. If she'd leant a little too far too one side she could have taken an ear off.
I just watched the official video and there are blood splashes on the walls too.

Werent red, white and black the colours of the old German republic?
Searchlights have been used in many varied places so to make a link to Nuerenmburg is just desperate.
The single Sig rune was used as the symbol of the Hitler youth but why would that have any relevance? how many people watching the show would actually know something like that. The symbol itself is older than Nazism

I thought it was pretty horrible. At 51 secs it looks as though she is doing this too...

I was wondering what the white grid was all about until I saw the Goose and Gridiron pub sign that was shown on the Masonic TV programme last night.
I think other people's paranoia is starting to rub off on me!

Yes, I know it's the Daily Mail but Cheryl's song was written by Andre Merritt who also wrote for Rihanna.
Quote from the article linked above...
The video for the single has been criticised for including clips that are highly similar to those used in a video of fellow X Factor judge Dannii Minogue.
In both Fight For This Love and Put The Needle On, the girls writhe in the corner of a room patterned with a black and white grid.
The red and black hoodie that Cheryl wears in the video has also been seen on Lady GaGa and the transparent top she wore underneath her red military jacket on the X Factor was previously seen on reject band Kandy Rain's blonde singer Coco.

Here are the lyrics...
Too much of anything can make you sick
Even the good can be a curse, curse
Makes it hard to know which road to go down
Knowing too much can get you hurt
Is it better, is it worse
Are we sitting in reverse
It's just like we're going backwards
I know where I want this to go
We're driving fast but lets go slow
What I don't want to do is crash, no
Just know you're not in this thing alone
There's always a place in me that you can call home
Whenever you feel like we're growing apart
Let's just go back, back, back, back, back to the start
Anything that's worth having
Is sure enough worth fighting for
Quit is out of the question
When it gets tough, got to fight some more
We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
If it's worth having, it's worth fighting for
Now everyday ain't gonna be no picnic
Love ain't no walk in the park
All you can do is make the best of it, now
Can't be afraid of the dark
Just know that you're not in this thing alone
There's always a place in me that you can call home
Whenever you feel like we're growing apart
Let's just go back, back, back, back, back to the start
Anything that's worth having
Is sure enough worth fighting for
Quit is out of the question
When it gets tough, got to fight some more
We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
If it's worth having, it's worth fighting for
I don't know where we're heading
I'm willing and ready to go
We've been driving so fast, we just need to slow down
And just roll
Anything that's worth having
Is sure enough worth fighting for
Quit is out of the question
When it gets tough, got to fight some more
We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
If it's worth having, it's worth fighting for
If it wasn't for all the negative imagery then it'd make a good anthem! :)

The symbolism was blatant in that Cheryl Cole routine. I assume it was timed to coincide with the holocaust roadshow tonight on Question Time, cleverly disguised as a BNP event to discuss domestic British politics.
Nick Griffin the ugly faced epitome of a holocaust denier will be doing his bit for the tribe.
Israel is reeling from the effects of it's slaughter in Gaza backfiring and they've mobilised all of their little parasites, including the BBC, to remind everyone just why they have to regularly attack their neighbours and defy UN and International law.

Dear yellowbentine
kind regards
Firstly I would like to say that Cheryl Cole gives me the creeps.
She is an insincere person who acts in ways that make the audience like her.
Secondly I don't know how Simon Cowell could call Mrs Cole's performance a glowing review when her natural singing voice doesn't sound all that great.
She is a heavily manufactured pop star and celebrity who is getting more respect than she truly deserves.
Thirdly I don't know if the public performance was a tribute to Nazism but it wouldn't surprise me.
I am sure that Hitler would be delighted that X-factor (a show that highlights black singers) is paying homage to him.
yours thankfully
John

If you look closely in the Video, a Pyramid can be seen (made by the stage lighting) and a light on top representing the capstone.
CC is totally unaware of this and I think she is a wonderful person, but she hates black female toilet attendants! lol
She sings over a backing track, her voice Autotuned, she loves black men but she gets by with her looks.

Say what you like about the Nazis - but they could put on a lightshow!
I don't think it's necessarily the point whether the majority of people watching the show would 'know' what was happening. I felt 'bad' watching without knowing why to start with (nothing to do with the insipidness of it - I actually felt physically uncomfortable...). I went away and read some stuff.
the point of the symbolism is that it acts as a sub-conscious 'trigger' - particularly for those who may have directly suffered ritual abuse with a nazi theme but perhaps also on a collective level as nazi imagery has invaded popular culture in many ways through the years.

Written? That may be givng it too much credit. I suspect it just ouzed itself out of a U-Bend somewhere.
