Rule-bending traffic warden parks crookedly in disabled bay... then wanders off to ticket others

They are notoriously quick to slap tickets on unsuspecting motorists for the most minor infringement.
But when it comes to their own parking it seems ticket attendants are a little more free and easy.

These photos were taken by furious trader Tim Mannering who spotted a parking attendant's council-owned car abandoned at an angle in a disabled bay in Sevenoaks, Kent.

While the majority of motorists would be slapped with an instant £60 fine for illegally parking in a disabled bay without a valid badge, Sevenoaks Council said the inspector was within his rights.
Wardens have special privileges allowing them to park in disabled bays and yellow lines if they deem it necessary.

Busy day: After leaving his car in the disabled bay the ticket attendant wanders off to dish out fines
The warden left his white Citroën outside Mr Mannering's laundrette on London Road and wandered off down the street dishing out fines.
Mr Mannering, 32, said: 'I think it is a diabolical liberty that an able-bodied traffic warden can leave his car in the only disabled bay in the road.
'I can't believe he's allowed to park there, wander off and ruin someone's day by dishing out another fine.'

A spokesman said: 'Civil enforcement officers are permitted to park in restricted areas, including on yellow lines and in disabled parking bays, in the course of their duties.'When enforcing traffic regulations, the officers will always try to park in locations that cause the least disruption to other road users.
'
They will only park in restricted areas if there are no other options available.'
But Mr Mannering said: 'Things are hard enough for people at the moment without having to battle with the local council over silly things like parking.
'It's one rule for them - and another rule for the rest of us.'
