A new internet game is about to be launched which allows 'super snooper' players to plug into the nation's CCTV cameras and report on members of the public committing crimes.
The 'Internet Eyes' service involves players scouring thousands of CCTV cameras installed in shops, businesses and town centres across Britain looking for law-breakers.
Players who help catch the most criminals each month will win cash prizes up to £1,000.
Last month it was revealed that Britain has 4.2 million CCTV cameras - the equivalent of one per 14 people - one-and-a-half-times as many as Communist China.

Before I was awake I used to know a google hack that would give you hundreds of links to CCTV cameras that had their control panels online for easier access. By default they had no password so you could access many. I found a few on college campuses and several in airports :eek: Another was in a strange desert facility. I hoped area 51 lol
Anyways on this topic, I think it is absolutely sickening. Training us to rat each other out for crimes that are probably fascist in nature. It's like a sci-fi movie.
Hell maybe we could nip it in the bud and game the system. A few of us on the forum could commit some littering and then share the winnings that our player makes. :D

Sometimes you'll find a camera that has somebody else using it at the same time, so when you spin right, they'll spin back left LOL. The spinny ones are the best because if peopleare there they can hear them and are like WTF?

Forgive me if this has been talked about before...I just heard it on the radio here in Ottawa today. Apparently the British are going to be offering a service via internet for $40 per month where subsribers will be able to tap into the thousands and thousands (maybe millions) of surveillance cameras within the country. They will then be given "points" on if/when they report someon commiting a crime...ANY crime...like jaywalking or running a red light. The more people you turn in the more "points" you get. Can't remember what that gives you in the end....cash awards maybe.
Talk about incenting people to spy on their neighbors and turn them in. What's worse is that i'm sure that ALOT of people will likely sign up for this crap due to the voyeristic/anonymous nature of it.

Internet Eyes is a worldwide online instant event notification system utilising video feed to notify the owner of the feed (customer) that an event is occurring.
Typical event notifications include:
* Shop lifting
* Burglary
* Vandalism
* Anti social behaviour
Would you like the opportunity to help detect these crimes?
How does a reward of £1000 a month sound?
Internet Eyes with its uniquely designed software is now offering you that chance.
Viewers are individuals watching random video feeds. Viewers can register for free with no recurring fees.
The locations of the feeds are not disclosed and Viewers reporting remain anonymous. Viewers can earn money by detecting an event that matches the above scenarios. The Viewers notification is sent to an SMS device of the owner of the video feed. The owner of the video feed is known as a Customer. The customer will also get a screenshot sent to their Customer Control Panel. As a Viewer you’ll need to be quick if you’re certain of activity as there maybe other Viewers watching the same video feeds. Only the first notification gets through.
Video feeds are truly randomised. The customer will leave the Viewer who notified them feedback based on the information provided by the Viewer.
Every month all Viewers have a chance of winning a large sum of money by reporting activities and receiving feedback from customers. Feedback is then converted into points. Each Viewer is automatically entered into the Viewer league lottery and can win money from their activities. Each Viewer has 3x SMS per month.
Internet Eyes will have many areas of interest both for Customers and Viewers including Feedback, League Table, Caught on Camera, Forum, News, Crime Advice Centre, Useful Links and Community areas.
Ohh make sure you're quick to report things people, cos you're in competition with lots of other no-good voyeuristic "viewers" with bugger all better things to do with their time but push us even further into the Big Brother state that we're already up to our necks in!!:mad: Grrrrr!!!

Thats not the only thing that's scary about it- If for instance you DO see something on a cctv, then you manage to report it and get through. If that case does eventually go to court, then you will be witness number one and all that entails. Could be a long drawn out process. Who pays?

I doubt it would come to that. The video evidence itself would be the "witness" since it is caught on tape provided by the government.

What better way to make people more accepting of BB than to let the public play BB themselves. Simple.

They have been doing this for years, remember the Rat on a Rat campagn, where peeps were actively encouraged by the reward of £50 (i think) to grass up someone who was benefit cheating. This was followed by a campagn to report people who you saw littering out of cars, you could ring up and report their regestration number.
There are plans to introduce MORE camera's onto the streets of the UK to spot 'potential' criminals! So, when they arrive, we will no longer be innocent till proven guilty! Apparently they will be manned by the public who will be trained to spot these potential crims and follow them around via cam. There will also be a function where the cam ops team can speak to the 'suspects' and warn them that they are being watched as well as the ability to send a msg to the nearest officer to alert them of the would be crims. Was on the news a few days ago - have no links tho, nice if somewho has :D
What's the betting that these measures / legeslations will be coupled up?
And remember kids, if you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to fear.

It just goes to show how well they've convinced the masses that the BB state is ok (as long as you're not doing anything wrong).

This is awful, and it is so open to abuse! Surely?
I was thinking of the scenario of a domestic violence victim. Say a man or woman runs away to escape the violence and is believed to have gone to another area.
I feel this has the potential to be a danger to anyone in this position, because the person wanting to find them could join up to this site and browse cctv footage of that area and pretty much stalk their victim from the comfort of their own living room.
It is totally intrusive! :mad:

it sure seem that most Orwellian society is in England.
that is some blatant indoctrination, the game of using cameras to snoop/report and winning a prize for it?!
Russians must be laughing on how monitored and oppressed Britain became, and they probably have all rights to do so. It was bad in Russia, but this snooping is getting lot worse than we could ever imagined.
