Four months ago I was rushed to hospital with severe pneumonia. Unfortunatley my pneumonia developed into a complication called empyema. Empyema is when the lungs fill with water and puss. I also have an enlarged heart.
Whilst in hospital I had four chest drains, blood transfusions, and a decortication operation( puss was scraped from my lung and a section of lung and scar tissue removed from the infected lung).
It has been ten weeks since surgery but i am still in pain and i am still struggling.
I am thirty-one years old, I dont drink or smoke and I have two young children. This was the most horrific pain I have ever experienced in my life and I almost lost my life.
If any of you guys have any kind of natural pain relief or tips that may help my recovery I would be so grateful. I have tried to click on the link for the Shen clinic but the link is not working
This has been the hardest thing I have ever had to face in my life.

You could try MMS solution. There is a thread - a sticky on it at the top of this section.

How horrible for you... you didn't mention if you were over-weight, if so, that might have a lot to do with it. If not, what would i know.
Here is one site i have come across and i really hope that it will help. It doesn't actually mention Emphosmia, but has lots of good advice.

Hi Curtaincat, I wasnt over weight. The doctors think the main cause was a chest infection that was left and not treated correctly.
What I had was a plural empyema, its a complication of pneumonia. It is a totally different condition than emphesyma, but thankyou for the link I am definatley going to check it out:)

nicholaq, I cannot help with the pain other than to give you my opinion of pain management. There is no reason for people to be in pain these days with the myriad of pain killers on the market. I am not an advocate of pharma drugs, but I am also not an advocate of people walking around in pain when there are controls available. I went thru open heart surgery after I had a massive heart attack and almost died. The pain was incredible. I took Darvocet until I could function and sleep at night.
I would do an internet search for what herbs should be used for inflammation.
Here are a few links:

Good luck to you. I want you to know that I thought my world had come to an end after what happened to me. It's 4 years later now and I feel better than ever. So, keep your spirits up.

Hi Motleyhoo, thankyou for them links. You totally understand the pain after what you went through. I am still on oxycontin(morphine based), gabapentin(nerve blocker) and also sleeping tablets. When I have tried to come of them the pain is so bad that I want to cry. Just breathing in is excruciating. But thankyou I am going to check them links out.;)
