Can any one let me know what types and kinds of signals are being sent out by the RAF please.
For 13 = weeks I have been losing my satillite T V signal on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. every weekend.
The T V technicians says this is being caused by interference from "radio" signal frquencies and this has got me thinking Micro wave? etc. I am very close to an RAF station.
So what signals are passing through my family, if they can do this through deep block and brick walls?
HELP. please.

What station are you close to?
The signals are the same as you get by satellite and mobile masts so you cant try and pin some sort of blame on them.
Radio interference could have many sources, police radios, sun spots, radars, etc. If the RAF station was to blame then you would find that the problem would have exist all the time rather than in the last 13 weeks. Even weather effects satellite signals as I lose reception when the weather is bad.

You should try putting your satellite receiver outside.

There would be over a mile before the next house would be in the same signal path. There are no phone masts or radio hams and my dish is exterior. My own engineer and the sat. engineer could see only one interference pattern.
It is the type of signal I am interested in. I know the source.
I also get weather signal break-up, these are intermittant, this one I can set my watch for.

Tell me the source and I might know the type of signal. Also, how can you be sure of the source?

There are 3 possible sources. The International Airport, this uses the standard frequencies, Police helecopters, using the base. But the RAF station closed down this afternoon for good. There was a closing ceremony.
The station has changed hands today to a "new EU helecopter division. The title RAF has also been discontinued. The new force wear green and the changeover started 3 months ago?
Also the technician advised this is probably the case. Any ideas please. Thanks.

Sounds odd. What base is it? I have not heard of an Eu heli force. Is it Coltishall?
The only way you can get rid of interference is to either remove the source or to find a way of filtering the interference out. In this case it would require an RF band block filter of the correct frequency but if this is the same as the satellite signal you would block that too.

It was RAF Aldergrove until yesterday 20.9.9
2 other RAF stations here have also changed hands.
The base, airport and police helicopters shared the 1 site

Well I will be looking into that as it sounds very odd

Here is the Aldergrove web page. No mention of an EU helicopter force. The JHC is a combined Britsh tri-service helicopter force:
