Move our research, outside of Tuscany, but always remaining nationwide. We face here a new mystery that appears this time in the numismatic field, presenting an index of strangeness really high. Let us carefully analyze this new mystery.
Emperor Publius Aelius Pertinax (126-193) was born in Alba Pompeia, the current Alba (Cuneo) in the Langhe. Acclaimed emperor before January 193, was murdered March 28 of that year. During the period of three months when he was in power Pertinax, coins minted in his honor are classified by experts in numismatics with four "R", in other words, the highest level of rarity. Among these, one in particular has shaken the experts' attention to the presence of a detail, very strange. Hats Remus was a famous and experienced numismatist, back in 1961 that popularized the news of the discovery of this oddity. The sample, which was a silver pieces, was found in Syria, and was examined by Cappelli. In the front (see picture) you see the emperor, while the reverse, in the words cos Providence deorum II, shows a female figure standing while indicating at the top left with his right hand a strange object hanging, like a sphere with four unusual asymmetrical protuberances, each finishing with a bulge.

Cappelli noted that the representation of that object was not common in the iconography for the stars, such as sun, moon, planets or comets, that were in use in Roman coinage known, therefore the meaning which was to have was definitely different that accepted. According to him was to be the representation of a celestial phenomenon anomalous, even comparable to the current UFO phenomena. Indeed, the ancient Roman historians report an enormous amount of facts unusual aircraft, of which I will know next articles. Be noted that even during the reign of Pertinax there were a number of these mysterious aerial objects flying over the skies of the empire. Cappelli also lists some coins that have the same anomaly. In Italy, unusual specimens were preserved at the museum and historical ARCHAEOLOGICAL Federico Eusebio di Alba herself, but unfortunately were stolen in the early 70s. Not formulate alcun'ipotesi, we will return and explore this mysterious case of ancient coins depicting unusual celestial objects out of place. I prefer to leave readers with a personal elaboration of the phenomenon in question
