Verichip, makers of a syringe implantable radio frequency identification device (RFID), lodged their prospectus with the United States Securities and Exchange Commision on February the 9th:
We may face a claim that we are violating the intellectual property rights of one or more third parties with respect to U.S. Patent No. 5,211,129, “Syringe-Implantable Identification Transponders.” If such a claim is successful, we could be required to cease engaging in activities to market our systems that utilize the implantable microchip and to pay damages, which may be substantial.
This document has all the information you could possibly want about Verichip's plans. It is a very long document but there is a lot of information within the first tenth of it (which is about as far as I got, I'll finish reading it another time).
Being a public prospectus, they have to state the risks involved for anyone who wants to buy shares in the company/technology.
One of the risks they state is that public resistance to the technology will hurt their market penetration and stock price.
