I wonder if any one can help?
To paint the picture - we are receiving demands for payment from npower for gas usage for the first 2 months we were at this property, though now with a different gas provider, but the demands for payment and threats to pass to debt collectors have been addressed "TO THE OCCUPIER" and not mine or my partners name.
If we do not provide them with our names then how can they push this case forward? I have been looking into this freeman, statue law and human not the person etc....and would be interested to see how you guys can advise me on how to treat this???

I've just sent a letter to a previous gas supplier who attempted to contract with me again for an additional payment. I wrote to them and told them that there could not be a contract between me and them as I am currently receiving a supply from a new supplier. I said I am happy to pay in full if they can provide a valid CURRENT contract between me and them.

They wrote back, apologised and said it was a "mistake". So a small success for me.

I hope this helps. I wouldn't advise just binning the letters as you are the occupier, however that is your decision.

My advice?
If you used it, pay for it.
They have their own karma.
Take care of your integrity, then you can move on.

Simple....mail them back their Notice with "NO THE OCCUPIER RESIDES AT THIS ADDRESS" on the face of the doc.

Peace

i kept getting hassled by an energy supplier once, i just sent a letter back saying i've never been a (insert company here) customer, and if you don't stop hassling me (they don't like that word) i'll shall consult citizens advice (their arch enemy) or something to that effect.

never heard from them since.

Generally a creditor has to prove you are a party to the dispute. If they cannot do that you can tell them to nick off (politely). Times are hard and these buggers will try anything to get quick and easy money. Has happened to us a few times in business. The minute you stand up to them it's always 'very sorry'... oh yeah. As far as I am concerned I go in boots and all now.
