The movie has one subtle problem, it uses animal forms like shaman and they are called daemons. These daemons are the souls of the person on the outside of themselves and transform throughout their youth. Then taking shape as the deeds of the inner person are told. Those born without a daemon are supposedly disfigured or made to be inferior in some way.
Another way to look at this is to day if you don't have a daemon you're not a complete person. I haven't seen this twist of logic before. The world is loosely based of our concept of reality and society in a fantasy context.
After Harry Potter, this seems too overt not to be an attack and in favor of the acceptance of evil occult forces at play. It's as if these movies taken in context as the established non-pagan religions would say socializing the youth into the world of the occult theology and terms therin. Visit the movie page.
