John Hughes, the writer, director and producer who defined the 1980s has died suddenly of a heart attack aged 59
Hughes wrotes such iconic films as The Breakfast Club, Home Alone, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and the immense Planes , Trains and Automobiles
I grew up watching his films, I've seen most of them, and I just wanted to say rest in peace

I remember when I'd just started lower 6th. The Big Breakfast was heavily promoting a film to be shown on BBC1 that night, showing little clips and whatnot
It must have been a TV premier, even though it was already nearly 10 yrs old, and most of us, aged about 16, had never even heard of it
The next day at college nearly every single kid was raving about this film, quoting from it and furiously swapping Simple Minds tapes
I think I'm gonna roll some 'doobage', as John Bender would say, and kick back and watch the all-time classic high school film, The Breakfast Club

Gutted :( No 80's teenager's life was complete without identifying with at least one character from The Breakfast Club!

You can appreciate that there's something wrong with the world whilst still appreciating art and good writing
