The anomalous events during the shuttle Discovery mission STS-48 (launched September 12, 1991) were originally revealed by space enthusiasts who had set their VCRs to record NASA Select TV, which at the time was downlinked live from each shuttle mission and distributed on cable and satellite TV. To record as much as possible, VCRs were set to record at slow speed (six hour recordings) which resulted in less than optimal recordings. When the recordings were reviewed, anomalous objects were seen at several points in the mission.

The video shows several small bright objects manoeuvering on screen, apparently interacting with one another in a complex fashion. Sceptics have usually insisted these are merely shots of some of the many small ice particles which inevitably end up in orbit with every space shuttle.

UFO investigators were quick to dispute this interpretation, and US scientist Richard C. Hoagland soon conclusively demonstrated the objects were actually large-sized and many hundreds of kilometres away from the shuttle.

One UFO in particular appears to rise up from below the Earth's dawn horizon and can be clearly seen emerging from behind the atmosphere and the 'airglow' layers. It is certainly in orbit around the Earth, some distance out in space, and travelling quickly.

A sudden, bright flash of light is then seen to the left of the picture, below the shuttle. The UFO then turns at a sharp angle and heads out into space at very high speed. Two thin beams of light (or possibly condensation trails) move rapidly up from the Earth's surface towards where the UFO would have been if it had continued in its original orbit.

Subsequently, careful analysis of the video shows that:

* The distance from the Discovery to the Earth's horizon is 2,757 kilometres

* The UFO's speed before accelerating into space is 87,000 kph (Mach 73)

* Three seconds after the light flash, the UFO changes direction sharply and accelarates off into space at 340,000 kph (Mach 285) within 2.2 seconds

* Such an acceleration would produce 14,000 g of force (1g is normal Earth gravity)

The light flash and light beams (or contrails) that shoot into space have variously been described as a ground-based attempt to disrupt or destroy the UFO. Hoagland interprets the incident captured by the Discovery's videocamera more specifically as a "Star Wars" weapons test against a Star Wars drone (the UFO). Other UFO investigators prefer to describe it as a Star Wars attempt against an extraterrestrial UFO. Whichever version you prefer, the technology implied is most certainly impressive - at least of Star Wars calibre.

More recently, from New Zealand, investigators have reviewed the video and corrected the actual time it was taken. They have found that the UFO incident was recorded over Australia and not the Philippine islands as was originally thought. Discovery's trajectory had already taken it across Surabaya in Java and above the Simpson Desert, Western Australia.

Incredible or what..?

I don't think these UFO's would harm us anyway, if they would the war had been over for ages:(

There is a secret war being waged in Space.

The video below is literally smoking gun evidence of hostile military action towards advanced extraterrestrial spacecraft, photographed during NASA Space Shuttle mission STS-48.

If our governments are engaged in a secret war with another civilization from a distant world, we have some serious questions to ask.

Who authorized this ? Why would we attack an extraterrestrial spacecraft, who's technology is hundreds, maybe thousands, perhaps even millions of years ahead of us ?

Recently, there has been a growing controversy over what actually happened. NASA claims it is just "ice particles". But as described in this short documentary clip, this explanation is simply not good enough. After watching the sequence, it is clear that the most likely explanation is that an advanced spacecraft was victim to a ground based missile strike. Considering the fact that this object maneuvered from 0 to 3000 MPH within about 1 second, the inertia would have killed any human passengers using traditional earth based propulsion and space technology. Based on this, we can assume that there is indeed a high probability that this spacecraft is of extraterrestrial origin.

The following is a chronology of the anomalous events of STS-48:

EVENT 1 (9-13-91 / between 03:49 - 04:10 GMT)

The camera shows a beautiful view from the forward cabin looking back through the cargo bay at the tail section with the Earth filling the top of the screen. One-by-one, a series of five lights travel radially from behind the tail section, comprising an arc. Then an extremely bright blinking light appears, traveling up from behind the left engine. This bright light occupies the focus of the arc composed of the five smaller lights.

Then the camera inexplicably pans down into the cargo bay, focusing on a piece of equipment there. After a minute, the ground controller requests that she be given control of the camera. After a short pause, the astronaut complies. The camera then pans back up into the tail area. The lights that were there just moments before are now gone.

EVENT 2 (9-15-91 / between 20:30 - 20:45 GMT)

This scene shows the nightside Earth filling most of the frame with the horizon extending from the upper left of screen to the lower right. Black space is seen above the horizon at the screen's upper right. Clouds, bright city lights on the surface, and an intense lightning storm can be seen. The atmosphere is slightly luminescent at the limb and is clearly discernible. Against this background, several lighted objects can be seen traveling slowly, apparently above the atmosphere. One of the larger objects (2A - see Event 2a illustration above) appears and slowly moves across the sky below. Another large object (2F) appears near the center of the screen, either traveling up through the atmosphere from below, or through it at the limb and traveling towards the shuttle. This object travels slowly, parallel to the horizon, from lower right to upper left.

Suddenly, a bright flash of light fills the screen. As the flash diminishes, two odd streaks of light emanate from the left. The object traveling parallel to the horizon executes an acute (less than 90 degree) turn and shoots off into space, dimming as it recedes. The upper of the two streaks would have intercepted the object traveling along the horizon if it had stayed on its course without making its sudden turn. The bottom streak shoots off towards the right of the screen. Throughout Event 2, other lighted objects move across the field of view at varying speeds and headings.

Note: The official NASA explanation for this event is that ice crystals are being propelled by a shuttle attitude thruster being fired. The fact that the Earth does not appear to shift in the frame indicates that the shuttle's attitude is not changed and therefore, no thruster is being fired during this event.

EVENT 3 (9-16-91 / 08:40 - 09:10 GMT)

This scene shows the sunlit Earth filling the screen. Other than cloud formations, no surface details are discernible. This clip can only be described as chaotic. There are dozens of objects streaking in every direction. Although sizes and distances cannot be calculated from the video alone, many of these objects appear to be descending into, and flying through the atmosphere. There is a similar streak as in Event 2 that intercepts one of the objects. After about 30- 45 seconds of this, a larger elliptical white object appears in the extreme upper left corner of the frame. This object is visible for only 5-6 frames before another camera is switched on showing the side of the shuttle with empty black space in the background.

Note: Again, there is no apparent change in the shuttle's orientation during this event, indicating that no thruster is being fired. Chronologically, Event 3 occurs after Event 4. The numbering system developed before all video was available to researchers.

EVENT 4 (9-15-91 / between 19:00 - 19:10 GMT)

While few details of the objects were apparent to me, Researcher Vince DiPietro reports that a large bell-shaped object appears, and that other objects move from the bottom to the top of the screen. His analysis allegedly reveals that several of these objects have an oblong shape, with sections of the objects appearing to rotate at high speed.

EVENT 5 (Video, date and time unavailable)

According to Vince DiPietro, a large "tubular shaped" object moves from right to left. Also, DiPietro reports that a pulsating light is seen at the top of the screen

Note: HUFON Report has not seen video of Event 5. According to our source, Ron Madeley, this event has been expunged from the official NASA STS-48 video archive, leaving a 14 minute gap in the video's time code. If this is true, it would be irrefutable evidence of a NASA cover-up.

EVENT 6 (Date and time unavailable)

The sunlit Earth fills the screen, with no surface details (other than clouds) discernible. A bright object enters the frame at left center and zips across the screen at high speed. When played in normal mode, the object seems to be a white light traveling in a smooth trajectory. When advanced frame-by-frame, the object changes color from red to green to white. Instead of a smooth trajectory, the object can be seen to travel in short, discrete steps, with the aforementioned color changes cycling during each step. The object seems to disappear while actually moving between each step.

As a lifelong supporter of our space exploration efforts I have observed many hours of NASA footage. Never have I seen events such as those recorded by STS-48. Lighted objects could most certainly be debris or ice crystals illuminated by the sun, however, I can conceive of no possible scenario that could explain the objects that are travelling in opposite directions. Presumably, thruster plumes should propel debris in one direction only. Another potential explanation would be meteor storms or space debris from previous launches. But again, these explanations cannot account for the observed trajectories .

According to our source, NASA no longer distributes a live downlink from shuttle missions, instead using a delay similar to that used by talk radio stations to censor offensive remarks. Sanitizing video downlink from shuttle missions, and deleting sections of the official archives is not in the interest of the taxpayers who fund NASA. The need for further official scientific inquiry is obvious.

In the meantime, the anomalous events recorded by Discovery astronauts during STS-48 can only be classified as UFOs, in the strict sense of the term.

Note: Vince DiPietro's report to FUFOR (the Fund For UFO Research) provided the descriptions of events for which video was unavailable to HUFON Report. Interestingly, DiPietro, a NASA employee at the Goddard Space Flight Center now publicly endorses the "ice crystal" explanation.

Tesla's Death Ray

Perhaps the best description of Tesla's death ray can be found in a 1937 New York Times Interview where he described how the borders of a country could be ringed by a series of towers, each of which contained his death ray generator. Any approaching foe by land, sea or air would be instantly detected and each tower, in the word of the times,

Tesla tried to sell his death ray to Great Britain for $3,000,000 and promised to make the British Isles invulnerable within three months. Whitehall opted for radar and spitfires instead. He then tried to sell it to the League of Nations without success, actually managed to rook $25,000 out of the Soviet Union without delivering, and became convinced that the US government were making unsuccessful attempts to break into his hotel room.

What puts Tesla's death ray in a league of its own is that his design actually had competent, even inventive, engineering about it. His idea was to use a gigantic electrostatic generator run by one of his turbines to accelerate tiny particles of mercury until they became a stream of super high-powered bullets of several million volts. Since they were accelerated in a vacuum, Tesla needed a way to spit them out of the accelerator sphere without letting air in. He proposed to do this with a special nozzle which blew high-pressure air around an open tube leading to the evacuated sphere and acted like a constantly renewing plug to preserve the vacuum. What happen to the mercury stream after it left the nozzle and had to travel through the atmosphere was another matter that was never quite figured out.

Incidentally, by "particles" Tesla did not mean protons, neutron and the like, but tiny droplets. Tesla had little truck with atomic theory and for an electrician he had no time for electrons.

High Vacuum Eliminated

The beam, he states, involves four new inventions, two of which already have been tested. But times being what they are, and with the nation getting ready to spend billions on national defense, at the same time taking in consideration the reputation of Mr. Tesla as an inventor who always was many years ahead of his time, the question arises whether it may not be advisable to take Mr. Tesla at his word and commission him to go ahead with his "teleforce" plant.

A documentary about a guy talking about his many UFO experiences. He believes they are based on Tesla technology.

Seems like they look like the UFOs in these videos.

I have experienced something that is similar to what he is talking about. These UFOs can carry 2-3 people, and seem to be able to fly so fast that they are undetectable when flying. As far as I know, their ability to stealth or become invisible to the eye is nearly 100%. When looking at a flying saucer, you will see right through it, since it as I believe, shows whatever is behind the saucer from the angle you are looking at.

Notice the controller drone that appears at 157s.
Also notice the strange shadow that occurs on the clouds at 158s.

As a bonus,
notice how the cameraman pans away at around 120s

Snowflake UFOs Spotted Observing External Fuel Tanks on Multiple STS missions

It appears that snowflake shaped or some form of crystalline ships are observing external fuel tank drops from STS space shuttle missions. Two so far have been captured on film by multiple STS crews.

The video above is from STS-120 and the camera man actually becomes distracted by it and focuses on it rather than the fuel tanks he is supposed to be filming.

The crystalline object has symmetrical structure, like a two pronged trident with branches. It seems to de-accelerate and turn to follow the tank.

The video below is from the STS-115 mission and shows a very similar object. This one is more triangular in shape, but follows the fuel tank just as the latter mission.

So what do we have here? Ice from the side of the shuttle? That seems to be the "in" blow off answer right now. Or do we have something very out of this world?

Yes, it's as weird that I almost wonder if it actually can be debris/space junk this time;) But it's kinda coming out from nowhere . . and it's pretty huge, whatever it is it could be in great danger to the shuttle.

As in post 25 in this thread there are a collection of all the possible ''UFO-shuttles'' and there are many more but they are debris, the ones in post 25 looks all VERY strange I thing (many of the videos are not longer on the links).
But in all these videos NASA claims it to be debris, space junk witch it definetly is not!

Why it's released.. yes that is a good question. .
It could be in the connection with the coming fake alien invasion (witch I don't believe).

As many of the other videos have come to light because of space enthusiasts who had set their VCRs to record NASA Select TV, which at the time was downlinked live from each shuttle mission and distributed on cable and satellite TV.

My interest in this subject goes back to before the moon-
landings, when I was a small kid. Since then I have followed
this as much as it has been possible over the years.
I'm something of a technogeek/sci-fi-fan, or was... And
before I got in to the conspiracy stuff and so on, I really
believed in NASA, the government etc.
I scoffed at the idea that there was some kind of duplicity
going on. That they wanted to dupe us, hell no!
Little did I know...

Don´t believe in a "alien invasion" either!
It might have been a possibility once, but not now! That
time is passed.
New times, new plans...

You know, I'm kicking myself here somewhat :(

I worked for a company back in the 90's which received a package one day from DHL. I was asked by the receptionist to come and get the box as she thought it was for my department. It had been misdelivered - addressed to the European Space Agency in Italy from NASA (I was working in Kent, UK at the time). Curious, my colleagues and I opened it and found VHS tapes of the whole STS-75 (Tether incident) mission.

We watched a couple but it was a little difficult as it was recorded for NTSC format, not PAL. We watched the one where they were trying to retrieve the tether and I remember it well, as the viewing attracted quite a crowd of colleagues.

I eventually boxed it all up and had DHL come and collect it.

Bloody wish we'd all taken copies now!!!!

Space Shuttle Columbia during STS-80 took a crew of five astronauts into a 17 day, 15 hour and 54 minute mission around the earth, the longest flight in the history of this vehicle. During this lengthy flight a very strange event occurred that even had crewman Dr. Story Musgrave unable to explain what he observed from the shuttle windows.

A large disc shaped object appeared below the Columbia. The shuttle was approximately, 190 Nautical miles high.

The disc was first observed to miraculously appear from out of nowhere, flying through the clouds below and progressing from right to left as the astronauts stared in utter amazement. The outer rim of the craft appeared to be rotating counter-clockwise. It was very large (compared to common space junk and breakaway ice), approximately 50 to 150 feet in diameter.

Astronaut Dr. Story Musgrave, a Payload Specialist on the STS-80 Mission, was interviewed following the flight. As he viewed a videotape of the incident which showed lightning flashes in the atmosphere, the city lights of Denver, Colorado and other earthbound sights, he stated: "I don't know what it is. Whether it's a washer, debris, ice particles, I don't know. But it's characteristic of the thousands of things which I've seen. What is not so characteristic is it appears to come from no where. You would think that if it's facing the dark side or facing a side towards you which is not reflecting the sun, you would think that you would see something there. It's really impressive."

During an earlier interview, Dr. Musgrave stated he attempted to communicate with ET life forms during each of his six missions. He actually asked them to take him with them. Now that's an astronaut with a lot of courage. Dr. Musgrave retired after this flight from NASA. Since then he's been spreading his considered opinion that alien life exists. When Musgrave speaks of this, it's no great leap for one to assume he's admitting knowledge of alien life. As the final slide of a "Grey" ET was shown during a recent astronomy presentation by Dr. Musgrave, he made this surprising comment: "These guys are real... I guarantee it!" Dr. Musgrave does know the truth. This author guarantees it!

Consider that carefully. These are world renown scientists making statements almost beyond belief. Dr. von Braun and others of his stature have the courage to disclose "sensitive" information, but obviously the leaders of the USA and the world do not. If billions could find a way of coping with the overwhelming threat of atomic annihilation for half a century, it is reasonable to assume we can cope with the knowledge of these "Other Intelligence's" from the stars. We can cope with the fact they are visiting earth, and have been since the beginning of history. We must. Those still asleep must open their eyes. We Are Not Alone.

It starts with showing the Space Shuttle Endevor's shot of Tokyo, you can clearly see the lights of Tokyo, then as the Endeavor passes over the Japanese Sea the narrator points out some lights....which if he is not mistaken are over the "dark" sea....yeah, there should not be any lights/reflections over the sea. And of course this could not be explained by NASA or mission control.

Then it moves to a shot of the International space station and the right solar panel. Suddenly there is a moving light dot....then the same moving dot is recorded (he claims that the International Space station has a 24 hour camera recording at all times) and then again over the city of Chicago....suddently NASA cuts the live recording and does not explain the moving dot. He also mentions why didn't mission control focus the camera or zoom in on the moving dot as it passes over Chicago, the they cut the broadcast, and he says that NASA never responds to the moving dot/ufo thing recorded.

Thank you who elsie:) I'm kind of emotionally connected to this thread and hate it when it get's lost, so everythime there's just a piece of information I'll upload it.
A great place to start is with the documentary --secret space-- which is highly recommended. I'm sure you've already seen it mate. :)
Another great point to all of this is that it's out in the stratosphere(space serpents)/ and beyond atmosphere and that strengthen the fact it could be alien lifeform.

i doubt a lot of the losers on this forum have what it takes to become an astronaut. they all have families and kids and there's nothing shady about them, they're brave men and very intelligent. people look different from photo to photo so to make assumptions about these guys based on one image is staggeringly small minded to say the least.

I respect your view horus, but please can you explain how/why a piece of space debris takes evasive action to avoid being hit by a missile fired from earth. Or was it just coincidence that a galactic wind of some sort blew it out of the trajectory path of the missile, changing its direction and excelerating its speed phenominally? The video shows several small bright objects manoeuvering on screen, apparently interacting with one another in a complex fashion. Sceptics have usually insisted these are merely shots of some of the many small ice particles which inevitably end up in orbit with every space shuttle.

UFO investigators were quick to dispute this interpretation, and US scientist Richard C. Hoagland soon conclusively demonstrated the objects were actually large-sized and many hundreds of kilometres away from the shuttle.

One UFO in particular appears to rise up from below the Earth's dawn horizon and can be clearly seen emerging from behind the atmosphere and the 'airglow' layers. It is certainly in orbit around the Earth, some distance out in space, and travelling quickly.

A sudden, bright flash of light is then seen to the left of the picture, below the shuttle. The UFO then turns at a sharp angle and heads out into space at very high speed. Two thin beams of light (or possibly condensation trails) move rapidly up from the Earth's surface towards where the UFO would have been if it had continued in its original orbit.

Subsequently, careful analysis of the video shows that:

* The distance from the Discovery to the Earth's horizon is 2,757 kilometres

* The UFO's speed before accelerating into space is 87,000 kph (Mach 73)

* Three seconds after the light flash, the UFO changes direction sharply and accelarates off into space at 340,000 kph (Mach 285) within 2.2 seconds

* Such an acceleration would produce 14,000 g of force (1g is normal Earth gravity)

The object seen by the STS 115 ATLANTIS SHUTTLE CREW may have been this DISK OBJECT videotaped in Space near the ATLANTIS SHUTTLE. It is moving away and it looks like its within the 100 feet range or a little further. This footage has not been confirmed nor denied by NASA or any other GOVERNMENT ENTITY. Footage was sent to an anonymous poster who stated on the original posting as a 'LEAKED NASA FOOTAGE' sent to a TV STATION NEWS satellite receiving dish.

You can be left in no doubt after the Disclosure Project, that is real people putting it all on the line. Sadly only those who want to listen will actually listen, still they have their reasons too I guess, its a scary thought if you have never entertained it. BTW NASA don't really need a space station in orbit to do weird stuff as we never get to see the dark side of the moon, keep them thinking about area 51 and the real deal stares at you every night from the sky, talk about hiding in the open.

I also think 90% of UFO's are fake and 10% are real, of that 10% I think 1% are ET in nature and 9% made right here on good old earth. Anything Delta shaped is surely made here. Plus if it looks cool then we probably made it, its the crappy 1950's looking ones that are probably real.

Just my POV of course.

The metallic UFO in this sequence I had on VHS it stayed with the shuttle for well over 2 hrs I think? I gave the tape to a friend to watch and forgot about it after seeing this clip I asked if he still had the tape I lent him as you can guess he binned all the vhs tapes including mine when he got a dvd player or a pc cdrw drive.

Anyway my point is SKY and Cable may have these in their archives I think it was about 1989 - 1990 as i had only just got sky TV between those years and remember sky transmitting the down link to some nice background chill-out music I think it might have been called EARTH VIEWS or NASA VIEWS.

Photo of Hubble - Unknown Object Also Seen

I happened to be doing a google search for photos of the Hubble Telescope in orbit, when I happened to find a photo of interest. I downloaded it and pulled it up in Photoshop, where I zoomed in on the telescope.

That is when I noticed something that wasn't quite right. Something was in the picture, near the Hubble.

I began lightening the area with the Dodge Tool set on Midtones at 7%. Something began to appear and take shape. It is very strange, to say the least!

I am enclosing the original photo and a cropped version that I worked on.

Proving that you don't need Google's billions or the BBC weather centre's resources, the four Spanish students managed to send a camera-operated weather balloon into the stratosphere.

Taking atmospheric readings and photographs 20 miles above the ground, the Meteotek team of IES La Bisbal school in Catalonia completed their incredible experiment at the end of February this year.

Building the electronic sensor components from scratch, Gerard Marull Paretas, Sergi Saballs Vila, Marta Gasull Morcillo and Jaume Puigmiquel Casamort managed to send their heavy duty £43 latex balloon to the edge of space and take readings of its ascent.

Created by the four students under the guidance of teacher Jordi Fanals Oriol, the budding scientists, all aged 18-19, followed the progress of their balloon using high tech sensors communicating with Google Earth.

Team leader Gerard Marull, 18, said: "We were overwhelmed at our results, especially the photographs, to send our handmade craft to the edge of space is incredible."

Completing their landmark experiment on February, the Meteotek team had to account for a wide variety of variables and rely on a lot of luck.

"The balloon we chose was inflated with helium to just over two metres and weighed just 1500 grams," said Gerard. "It was able to carry the sensor equipment and digital Nikon camera which weighed 1.5kg.

"However, when we launched at 9.10am on that morning the critical point for the experiment was to see if the balloon would make it past 10,000m, or 30,000ft, which is the altitude that commercial airliners fly at."

Due to the changing atmospheric pressures, the helium weather balloon carrying the meteorological equipment was expected to inflate to a maximum of nine and a half metres as it travelled upwards at 270 metres-per-minute.

"We took readings as the balloon rose and mapped its progress using Google Earth and the onboard radio receiver," said Gerard.

"At over 100,000ft the balloon lost its inflation and the equipment was returned to the earth.

"We travelled 10km to find the sensors and photographic card, which was still emitting its signal, even though it had been exposed to the most extreme conditions."

The pupils' incredible school science project has already caught the attention of the University of Wyoming in the US.

Does Video of Discovery Launch Show UFO ?

A UFO Casebook reader sent the following report with links.

I went to Miami on business this week and while visiting family, a friend of ours showed us this video he took of the shuttle launch on 3/15/09 from the view of his airplane.

I noticed in the video there is a glowing sphere to the right of the shuttle trail, and asked him what it was, but he has no clue to what it is either.

Mitchell contends that the dispersal of knowledge about what he believes to be the end of Earth's apparent quarantine from other civilizations, and advancement of planetary culture beyond its present fragmentation and incoherence, are desirable results of the widest public release of information about the extraterrestrial presence he believes is real.

The conference, organized by long-time "UFO Disclosure" activist and one-time Maryland congressional candidate Stephen Bassett, centers on an emergent field of cultural reconsideration its advocates term "Exopolitics." Basset's nonprofit Paradigm Research Group has mounted a decade-long broad spectrum campaign advocating disclosure of what he says are unwarranted secrets about "UFOs" and "ETs" held over as unnecessary "Cold War paranoia."

Questions of "What do we do and say after we say 'Hello!' to ET?" remain distant from wider public consideration, let alone consensus about their implications for national sovereignty, religious traditions and global policy formulation, discussions about which conference organizers and presenters are intent on provoking.

Mitchell, Bassett and other "ET disclosure" activists are banking on President Barack Obama's repeated assurances that government agencies withholding information from US citizens are "on notice," in the President's words, that an era of unnecessary secrecy is over.

Obama has said his administration's tendency will be to unlock what he and senior officials consider information rightfully belonging to the public, while recognizing constraints required for national security, a presidential promise replayed on video at the conference to sustained applause by hopeful disclosure advocates.

Mitchell said he believes such changes are essential for Earth to make progress through problems confronting humanity's competing needs, religious imperatives and cultural fragmentation.

"We live in challenging, magnificent times," Mitchell said, emphasizing that, in his opinion, information that we are not alone in the universe -- and indeed, he said, that we here on Earth are having ongoing interactions with nonterrestrial beings -- may provide a key to consciousness changes he and his colleagues believe are necessary.

Mitchell said he believes such changes are essential for Earth to make progress through problems confronting humanity's competing needs, religious imperatives and cultural fragmentation. His efforts since leaving NASA and the space program have been focused on exploring frontiers "of the mind, body and spirit," he said.

Mitchell acknowledged that, before humanity can travel with practicality much beyond our own solar system, solutions to Einsteinian limitations to faster-than-light propulsion of our spacecraft must still be solved, a frontier the aging astronaut said he believes science eventually will do.

But he stressed that our own limitations have not limited the extraterrestials he asserts are present on Earth.

"The aliens have done it!" Mitchell said of an apparent ability to traverse what to us are insurmountable distances.

He contends that as a result of wider public awareness of the ET presence, revisitation of much phenomenology catalogued in human history should precipitate revision of how we understand planetary history in light of what he believes are long-standing extraterrestrial interactions on Earth.

The Cape Cod connection?

The late Harvard psychiatrist Dr. John E. Mack, a former summer Cape dweller who studied and wrote about purported "ET alien abductions" in the early 1990s, and long-standing "ET abduction" researcher (and Provincetown resident) Budd Hopkins, a New York modern artist who has studied the phenomenon since his own "UFO" sighting in 1964, met each other at the Cape. They were introduced by a mutual friend, Dr. Robert Jay Lifton, the acclaimed psychiatrist and author, also at Harvard, who lives on the Cape.

The astronaut, who told Cape Cod Today he was raised in a strict Baptist household, said reevaluations of source phenomena that led to Earth's major faiths, and which he said foster divisions among humans, might be another of the beneficial results of wider awareness of what Mitchell believes is the historical and ongoing "ET" presence and their asserted involvements in human development.

Mitchell and his fellow explorers of what he has called the "Frontiers of Consciousness" have long contended that broader public awareness of the extraterrestrial presence and interactions the astronaut-scientist believes are reality could help promote a "global mind change."

Mitchell and colleagues assert this could point us toward "planetary transformation," helping Earth's culture to mature sufficiently to gain entry into a wider community of civilizations for which they believe abundant evidence exists, now and throughout history, when viewed through a filter in which the claimed extraterrestrial presence is considered.

Taking questions following his presentation, Mitchell told Cape Cod Today that his beliefs as expressed this morning about extraterrestrial involvements with humanity on Earth are drawn from information generally available to those who study the field of alleged "ET-UFO" events and experiences, citing no "secret information" to which he has been privy.

He also contradicted some other presenters at X-Conference 2009, who claimed that Mitchell and the other NASA astronauts were briefed before their space flights about potential encounters with UFOs of an extraterrestrial nature and how to handle or disguise them from the public. He said unequivocally that this did not occur.

In a previous private interview with Cape Cod Today, Mitchell also expressed skepticism about some of the more popular "UFO conspiracy lore," i.e., stories that NASA astronauts did not really visit the moon or that the space agency has been covering up satellite photographs of Mars purportedly showing evidence of past civilizations.

"We had no briefings on UFOs during our astronaut training," Mitchell told the conference, suggesting that "human nature" tends to embellish and distort things about which there is insufficient information or which embody concepts disruptive of our respective world views.

Mitchell said decades of "UFO disclosure" revelations, drawn principally from elderly military and nonmilitary folks claiming bits and pieces of the larger puzzle about what they believe really happened at Roswell, NM in 1947 He also acknowledged that the UFO field has often been the target of disinformation and intentional misinformation seedings throughout the years, some perhaps for legitimate national security reasons having to do with terrestrial aerospace research and development.

But Mitchell's stance on NASA-centered conspiracy theories about "ET UFO" remained firm in the face of questions.

"It was not mentioned during my career," he said, adding that he and his fellow spacefarers saw no evidence of space visitors on the back side of the Moon, another long-standing tale among the more cult-like cohorts of UFO faithful.

Mitchell said decades of "UFO disclosure" revelations, drawn principally from elderly military and nonmilitary folks claiming bits and pieces of the larger puzzle about what they believe really happened at Roswell, NM in 1947, helped shape his belief that the event actually took place and was not, as the US Air Force claimed, a crash-test balloon.

He cited what he described as the credibility of the witnesses and the coherence of their stories as influencing his belief in the reality of the ET scenario attendant to the Roswell event, which stems from a 1947 cover-story released in July of that year after a crash of some unspecified aircraft not far from Roswell Army Airfield (AAF).

The next day the initial "recovered flying saucer" cover story issued by Roswell AAF public affairs staffers was countermanded by a senior Army Air Force commander, who said a "weather balloon" was what had crashed, pieces of which had been recovered.

The story died for three decades until being resurrected in the early 1980s, eventually prompting a 1994 U. S. Air Force revision of their "official story," contending that the Roswell crash was of a "Mogul" project balloon of the type used for atmospheric monitoring to detect possible Soviet nuclear weapons tests.

A subsequent version of the Air Force story was that the alleged "recovered alien bodies" endemic to some Roswell crashed saucer tales were, in reality, "crash test dummies" used for testing experimental high-altitude equipment for the U. S.'s growing strategic bomber forces.

As is well known to worldwide "UFO" enthusiasts, the Air Force's efforts to defuse the Roswell story were in vain, and a host of alternative scenarios have persisted.

These range from "ET crashed saucer recovery" to speculations that the event being camouflaged was human experimentation on unwitting subjects, in contravention of the then-recently adopted Nuremberg Protocols governing medical experimentation on humans following disclosure of Nazi concentration camp Holocaust horrors.

Mitchell is among many former military officials and large numbers of US and world citizens who scoff at the Air Force "clarifications," citing what he says are the credibility of the witnesses and the coherence and consistency of their recollections, in his opinion, that an extraterrestrial craft indeed crashed and the event covered up for six decades.

"What more do you need?" Mitchell declared, asserting that the Air Force's balloon stories are transparently false.

Ironically, the future astronaut grew up in Roswell, NM, where his family had a ranch not far from the alleged crashed saucer site, although Mitchell said that at the time it happened, he had no firsthand experience or knowledge about it.

But other space related research was going on at Roswell during Mitchell's youth, as rocket pioneer Robert Goddard had moved his research and testing program to Roswell in the 1930s and launched numerous experimental rockets. The youthful future astronaut was captivated by Goddard's efforts, which captured his imagination about possible travel away from Earth and to the stars.

Mitchell also related that in 1945 he and his family's neighbors witnessed the bright, white flash over the horizon which signaled the advent of the atomic age with testing of the first nuclear weapon at the Trinity site. Mitchell said the bomb influenced him significantly when he later learned what it was and, much later, better understood its implications.

Mitchell said he believes the nuclear explosion also may have attracted the extraterrestrial presence he believes resulted in the alleged ET aircraft collision which UFO researchers have claimed for three decades happened near Roswell, which is situated not far from where the nation's first nuclear weapon was detonated.

"I have a sneaking suspicion that the reason for Roswell (as the alleged ET aircraft crash is euphemistically termed) was that the UFO phenomenon was drawn to our nuclear sites," Mitchell told the gathering. He said he is concerned about the tendencies of terrestrial governments and their militaries to stake claims and perhaps fly weapons in space, a concern Mitchell believes may be shared by the intervening extraterrestrials.

Mitchell said that many years ago, after leaving NASA, he authored a manuscript advocating against militarization of space attendant to nationalistic colonization of the high frontier for military advantage or benefits other than for all of humankind.

"I submitted it to thirty-four publishers, and all refused to publish it," Mitchell said. He told the X-Conference that his coming forward so unequivocally at this time reflects his concerns about the direction our planet is heading and his belief that wider public awareness that "we are not alone" will precipitate a healthier consideration of Earth's future.

The only explanation I can think of when the screen "flashes" is the shuttle performing a burn, followed by the movement of...whatever those are. It's weak but it's the best I've got :p

NASA video footage recently uploaded to YouTube by a user named 'secretnasaman' has created a stir among UFO enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists, alike. The hotly debated films come from different space missions, and capture odd, moving lights in the background. In the above film, which follows a test satellite, a light appears at the bottom of the frame around the 1:18 mark and then slowly moves upward out of camera view. A second film, also from a 1996 mission, seems to show numerous unidentified objects zipping around the screen.

Leave it to NASA and the eyewitness astronauts to shoot down the alien claims, though, and ruin everyone's fun. Mario Runco, the astronaut involved in the first incident, attributed the luminescent abnormality to either ground light or a star. According to FOXNews, he said that if it were an alien craft attempting to make first contact, he would "be the first one to step up. I'd want the credit." An astronaut on the second film, Thomas Jones, also dismissed extraterrestrial involvement, saying the points of light were merely ice crystals or residue being moved around by the thruster exhaust plume.

Right. It sounds to us like the men in the black helicopters already got to them. And is it a coincidence that the films are from 1996, when the 'The X-Files' was at its ratings peak? The truth is out there, and it's probably somewhere on YouTube.

Another good find my friend, If you look on the Blog link comment someone who knows for a "fact" that Government Helicopters are not actually black in color...lol. He knows this for a fact yet doesn't see the correlation to the term "black" as in black ops, black bag etc. Which means he's probably a black operative or is just plain "simple"...:D.

Australian wallabies are eating opium poppies and creating crop circles as they hop around "as high as a kite", a government official has said.

Rick Rockliff, a spokesman for poppy producer Tasmanian Alkaloids, said the wallaby incursions were not very common, but other animals had also been spotted in the poppy fields acting unusually.

"There have been many stories about sheep that have eaten some of the poppies after harvesting and they all walk around in circles," he added.

Retired Tasmanian poppy farmer Lyndley Chopping also said he had seen strange behaviour from wallabies in his fields.

"They would just come and eat some poppies and they would go away," he told ABC News.

"They'd come back again and they would do their circle work in the paddock."

Some people believe the mysterious circles that appear in fields in a number of countries are created by aliens. Others put them down to a human hoax.

I don't know if this is of any importance but I thought it was interesting.

It was Monday, July 7, 2009, 2314 hours. Here at our rural home located 50 miles ENE of Abilene, TX, my husband and I were watching the International Space Station (ISS). It's approach at 10 degrees above WNW, maximum elevation at 16 degrees, departure at 10 degrees above North.

The ISS was visible for approximately 4 minutes. There were sparse, high clouds to the North and West but they did not obstruct our view.

It was during the last minute of viewing the ISS, that I noticed a second object approximately 10 degrees behind, 5 degrees south of the ISS. This object appeared to have a white strobe light and was approximate to the same altitude as the space station.

My husband was viewing the ISS through binoculars. He didn't notice the second object, though he later mentioned that he had noticed a pulsing light ahead of the ISS. He said the "leading" object pulsed white, once every second. I did not see the first object.

I assumed at first, that the object trailing the ISS was the Progress 33P (which will re-rendezvous with the ISS on 7-12-09), but as soon as the ISS disappeared in the shadow of the earth, this second object broke off it's pursuit, appeared to momentarily become static, then made a 45 degree turn to the ESE.

I would assume that Progress 33P would not be doing that, at least not now. I could also assume that the second object (or either, for that matter) was a jet, except it was pacing the ISS and was many miles up.

I lost sight of the second object after it broke off pursuit, stopped, then took a southeasterly direction for 3 seconds at original speed, whereupon the light vanished.

I must also note that earlier at 2138 hrs. that same evening, I had watched and videoed the ISS as it passed overhead (approach-10 degrees above SSW, maximum elevation-27 degrees, departure- 10 degrees above ENE, visibility- 5 minutes).

At that angle and approach so close after sunset, the ISS stood out quite well and nothing, no strobe-type or pulsing lights were visible in the night sky around it.

I would be interested to know if anyone else might have seen these objects moving along with the ISS. Thanks.

We’ve long loved the Most Awesomely Bad Military Patches series that our sister blog, Danger Room, runs. Then, earlier this week, space collectors bid up the accidentally limited edition Stephen Colbert treadmill patch to more than $175 on eBay.

And with the Augustine Commission report on the future of human space exploration due next week — and bad news likely — we thought we’d do some old-fashioned space boosterism and assemble this gallery of Awesomely Awesome NASA Patches.

The patches above were drawn and worn by the wives of the astronauts on those respective missions. They are nearly identical to the actual patches, but the central figure is a woman instead of Leonardo Da Vinci’s Virtruvian Man.

While some early mission patches reached artistically, other mission artists were more conservative. The Gemini 5 patch above, is just a simple covered wagon, presumably to represent that its wearers were pioneers in space.

Most shuttle mission patches used the shuttle itself as the dominant theme. Perhaps as a result, most of them are pretty boring.

But unofficial patches produced during the shuttle era could be quite stunning. The Hubble Huggers patch was created for scientists and space officials who wanted to push for Hubble’s repair in the troubled early days of the mission. (It can still be purchased for $5, too.)

Patches created for shuttle missions to Mir usually display an excellent mix of American and Russian heroic tropes. Here, we see a patch from NASA 6/Mir 24 mission where Mir acts as the hammer of the traditional Communist symbol, the hammer and sickle.

But we love the simple patch art best because it acts as a kind of Rorschach test about your beliefs in space exploration. This Skylab patch seems like a coded transmission from Earthlings to the Universe and the best part of it is: No one can say for sure what the actual message is.

If you look at the image below, the yellow arrow points to an orb of some sort seemingly watching the shuttle EVA. It seems too small to be the moon, is rotating and looks like it's above our atmosphere. A You tube link is also posted below. The HD version is clearer if you look for it buried in one of the youtube files. What amuses me is that at about 35 seconds into this posted link, the camera operator tries to get the pesky orb off screen. When I was watching this on live NASA TV, he did in fact get the orb off screen. Maybe ETs like the way we move fridges around in space?

MIT students photograph Earth from Space - object seen in one photo

The project photos were recently posted on the Web, but I read about it today, never the less...

From Project Icarus website:

We are a group of MIT students seeking to share the artistic aspects of science with others. On Sept. 2, 2009, we launched a digital camera into near-space to take photographs of the earth from high up above. (see “Flight”)

One of the photos on their website caught my eye as there is an "interesting" metallic reflection visible in it.

I love the fact that they launched a "camera", pretty damn ingenious. Maybe NASA should nickname that idea as "Trubble"...lol :D

It looks very disc shaped, and the picture is of very good quality, no defects anywhere else. So either it has been placed there or it actually was there. If we have any expert photoshoppers I would like to see the analysis on this one.

Now that is impressive, when you have creditable , highly trained and experienced astronautics at a lost of words or understanding to explain what this object could be then its time to i think to take note.They must know what kind of space derbies and satellites are in space so there apparent loss at a conventional explanation is compelling testimony that there are possible UFOs in orbit that are not of our world.:cool:

Stop right there..Madmod72 is not a reliable source. This individual has many many postings on YT that are manipulated and frankly misunderstood bits of footage. Quite why someone in the field of Ufology needs to dress it up with his own 'Look at me' intros, before getting to the core of his film I have no idea. Neither is he open to having critique (always a good sign don't you think?), the only postings you'll find on any of his postings are what he agrees with, or they give his ego a lift.

Don't believe me? Look up the so called Poland UFO airshow encounter. A Russian (I think) Su27's crew eject after apparently being in close proximity to a UFO.. Now, that's all fine and dandy, until you compare the before and after footage (kindly revamped by our friend Madmod)..What do you see? Well, you see that the colours are different between the two (Why?) and the slowed/stopped show no evidence of any aerial anomolies on the before footage. Why would that be? Why do UFO's only show up after they've been through an editting suite with the colour saturations and hues altered? 'Ahh because the human eye can't see then normally'..

If that's the case, why would anyone take footage with a view to seeing if it held any anomolies? I've tried to ask Madmod these questions, and not surprisingly he hasn't replied. My question is now, if what he's suggesting is above board and legitimate, why can he not also give answers to reasonable questions?

I've seen his one, and looked on the NASA site, there is no release on there..however there's no release of any footage between the 17th and 30th of november of this mission... odd either way you look at it. :rolleyes:

If this footage is faked, he/she either works for a film company or should do.

Looks too good to be true that one, its maybe just because in the audio the guy says "This thing" instead of "These things", I don't know if that means much but I couldn't see myself making that staement faced with two weird as hell objects as those.

A further look and tip off has revealed it's a composite. It was done by someone basically to prove to himself he could do it! It's funny really, because I'm sure I've heard the ausio previously with a totally different video footage-I should have twigged it then! But yes,, to all intents and purposes, it's not real..

In fairness to the person who did it, it was originally posted on (I believe) Black vault TV.. so it was in an appropriate vehicle. i.e. showing off what it is you're able to to do-the subject matter could just as well have been two cars crashing into each other, but done in CGI. What IS rather disappointing, is someone posting it on YT as 'exclusive' footage in the knowledge it was simply someones self indulgance with software.

Space Serpent/Worm seen on NASA TV

Description: Let me explain to you what I’ve seen today’s afternoon (around 6 PM in Spain) at NASA TV:

I was watching the Space Shuttle Atlantis undocking maneuver when something like a worm appeared in the image. I urgently thought about recording, and the fastest way was take my digital camera, and record directly from the computer’s screen, so that’s why you hear a background sound the street and people.

Just to say, the black background of the video is the outer space.

You can clearly see the ‘worm’ from the :15 till the end of the video, and you can see it moves like a worm does in the sea. Seems it just was flying there and was attracted by the presence of the ISS, next it moved away. But apart of the ‘worm’ there are other objects that fly pretty fast from the Earth to the outer space. See second :32 to :43 and 1:09 to 1:12, there is one flickering light moving very fast from the bottom left corner to the top center of the image.

I don’t know if the ‘worm?’ is a mysterious animal that lives in the space, or if the flickering lights are UFOs, but this video is very interesting as there seem to be active activities in the space that we’re not told about?

Let me know your opinion.

You could own this amazing main engine from the Space Shuttle for free, as long as you're willing to remove it from NASA premises. NASA tried to sell the shuttle's engines, but lack of interest is your good fortune.

I already know exactly who should go get these main engines right now: Industrial mayhem group Survival Research Labs, famous for lighting giant machines on fire and blowing things up in the name of art and badassery. If not them, then a group of mad scientists and engine hackers. Taking over the world should also be involved.

In less interesting news, you can also buy one of the space shuttles for just $28.8 million. Sorry, but that just isn't tempting at all when I can have one of the mega-engines FOR FREE. Mwahahaahah!
