i watched it the other night, brilliant movie, of course the spanish in south america is one aspect that could be debated as being not so cool, and yet, it is just a romanticised story within a story, i loved the symbolism of the tree, resonates in just about every cultures legends.

I felt like it was the mans struggle to use any tool he could not to face death and love in his life.He filled his life with work, not allowing himself time to feel and live.And in the end the greatest reward was letting go , and allowing himself to be free, all along that was the key to his happiness.

I guess it takes a special kind of person to believe reptiles run the world , yet not to relate to a film that talks about common stuff like love and death.

:D I don't believe Reps run the earth, have to see one first. I didn't mean the film was pointless... I felt a sense of pointlessness. I feel this about infinity too. maybe I'm just a sad bastard.

I am interested in the fact that we saw a totally different meaning to the film though. I saw it sometime ago. Who is accurate here? Can someone tell me?

I sasw it and thought it was beautifully shot but the story was hard to follow
jumping back anf forth through time and wot not !
But still enjoyable........but loved APOCALYPTO way better!

The biggest message I got from it was that we sometimes go in circles worrying about death. People obsess about staying young and being immortal/curing and contolling disease and mortality. We have to let go - we are already immortal!!! Live is what happens - while we worry about life.

Read somwhere that when hes floating up at the end, sure its the end in his mad bubble thing his eyes go reptillian ! lol

yeah i couldnt understand the film that much and didnt really like it. but diffrent tastes for diffrent people.

here though a good film i think to check out is - Powder -(made in 1995)- and its about an albeano who is born and hes parents lock him away under the basement, then they die and people come and discover him, and he has to go into the big wide world but he is highly intelligent and ........

No words are good enough to describe The Fountain.
It's the most spiritually profound, transcendental, pure, moving and beautiful film I have seen.
I was floored by it.. kinda stunned how perfect it was (which is the only bad thing about it the first time you see it).
The Fountain deserves alot more attention and praise.
