What can survivalists do in response to the oncoming threat of highly industrious and deadly robots who are not intimidated by human things?
Are there EMP weapons we can create on the cheap, preferably from the plethora of plug-in appliances?
Maybe some sort of sticky goop or disrupting substance is another alternative, something to mess with the gears?

robots would be programmed to see infra red because of the body heat we emmitt . thus its thinking proccesses would be totally fooled by any one wearing a heat/cold suit to keep the heat in .
would be a bit swetty but can work .
am on thinking about totally trashing their main parts and will be back in a mo.

Most likely, long distance attacks are going to be an unstoppable problem, so maybe if robots are already targeting you, it's pretty much over. Like a nuclear weapon, it's just not stoppable, only preventable.
However, maybe EMP disrupters can be placed long ways away from your home or created in such a way that they are cheap enough to throw and leave behind?
That way you don't have to worry about pressing buttons or functionality, but they somehow alert you to the fact that they've been "set off"?

a nice strong rope at ankle height, mud from catapaults, water correctly applied, microwaves with their door 'tampered with' so they're on with the door off. Marbles. Small pebbles. Oil on the floor. Leaves on the tracks. Flour in the 'eyes.' fish ponds tarpaulins that look like another bit of the garden. Those traps with spikes in. Axes. Angle grinders. Welding equipment. High intensiity heat appliences (home made flame thrower). Buckets of water on the tops of doors. Rams on the front of cars. EMP's. Running away shoes. Cake. Sawdust in the moving parts. Big bits of wood that you can poke at them. Swords, nice and sharp. Flamable aerosol and a lighter. Big Brother. Short circuit dvd.
Some might work, others may not

Oo, microwaves, nice idea.
Unfortunately, what concerns me now is the level of shielding they may have against microwaves, due to their very own microwave- or radiation-based weaponry!
I just thought of another one, this from the battle for Endor: LOGS! REALLY BIG LOGS!

ON a more serious side. These Robots obviously will be very advanced and so imo will have some type of shield for emp type weapons !!Its really a hypothetical question because there are so many variations on the Robot, ie speed, size ,armour and weapons systems to name a few  So really you could put out a variety of of weapons, and I think nearly all would have to be of a millitary kind.

Right. My concern exactly. There is no universal weapon. Seems Mister Natural's "get the right tool for the job" is our only recourse.
However, given the advanced metals/plastics and their dependence on some sort of power source, perhaps *something* at least *mostly* useful could be developed.
Something that instantly drains/confuses/explodes batteries comes to mind.

i think that a fire based weapon will work best, petrol bombs etc, but would need to be localoised enough to cause a lot of heat to bring the things down. And you don't want to be using that in your home, obviously

I think the weapon would depend on the specific type of robot a person were up against. Against ASIMO, a boot would probably be all you would need. Against 20 meter tall automated mechs, I can think of nothing a single survivalist could scrounge up that would be effective, save maybe an anti-tank mine that could possibly blow a leg off if stepped on. Though for aggressive robots inbetween ASIMO and mechs, armor piercing ammunition (tungsten, steel, maybe bronze), or incendiary ammo would probably be effective. Both of which are usually available at your local gunshow, even if they shouldnt be.
Though if youre looking for a cheap solution, maybe immobilizing them with pits, or nets, or string tied around trees, etc, would be best. Or maybe as merlin suggests, an axe :D Maybe hit them with a sledgehammer afterwards for good measure, too.

That is quite scary, but a decent bit o rope between two posts / trees would have for it, or a hole we water / spikes in - lets see it bark its way outa that :-)

A sticky thermite bomb with a Magnesium fuse. Throw it on top of the death machine and let it burn right through the travesty against humanity!!! :D

Of course you could throw a stick and hope it chases it. Thus giving you time for a cunning escape. :D
