Can some who point me in the direction of what is happenin with the OFT v bank chages issue, as there is loads of stuff on the net, but i can't seem to find anythin up to date, ie since feb 09.
I have issue with the natwest who asked me to close my account due to insufficient actions in it. Ie i have a credit going in once a month and two debits coming out once a month. i think this is on the tail of me kicking off about their £600 + charge for a £500 overdraft on my business account.
They wrote and told me that they thought our 'bank / customer relationship had broken down iretrievably, we think it will be in your best intrest to make alternative banking arrangements,' so i tottled off to the bank, withdrew all the money bar a fiver and cancelled all my direct debits.
They then write and tell me that there was insufficent funds to commit payments (a direct debit that i had cancelled) and charged me £28 and £16! and then they charged me intrest. My statement this morning said that i owe them over £115 for their mistake.
i wrote them last week explaining all this (altho at that point they were asking me for £70) asking them for a bill and a copy of the contract etc, and have heard zero. So need some hard points to knock the message home. But can't find any new info.
i thought that the appeal was due in june, is that right?
peace all

Your correct the appeal is going before the house of lords in june.
You have been treated unfairly, did you cancell the DD's in writing if so you will be covered by the DD guarantee.I get more disgusted with the banks with every passing day.
I would have a look on www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk,you have to register to be able to use the template letters,i realise it's not the freeman route,i have been successful in using this site with regards to DCA's and baliff's.
I tend to use the freeman route and the statute route depending on my circumstance at the time.

I would agree go to www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk, which is an excellent source of information, as comma berenices has stated in order to use the template library you do need to be registered!.
Speaking from personal experience, i would still go ahead with chasing the bank for your unfair and therefore unenforceable charges, some banks are still paying out on these as they dont want the problems later on..Just my opinion.

The halifax paid out to my daughter, bank charges, credit card late payments
and her payment protection, all with 8% interest that a court would award
so i agree it is worth putting a claim in for the unfair charges.
Just under 3.000 she was repaid, most of which was the ppi.
I'm in the process of fighting the abbey for a friend they took charges out of her benefit and it left her with no money to feed her child their low life's.
