Hi, I just wanted to share my experience of 2 weeks of green therapy. I moved to the Forest of Dean 2 weeks ago, and to cut a long story short I have been very poorly with a large staghorn kidney stone and a chronic kidney infection, I am currently waiting for surgery and work has been very stressful.

Before the kidney stone started making me ill I was going running, and I have had to stop, as going running was making me wee blood. Instead of running I have just started going out for walk instead.

The point of this post is, that every time I start feeling pissed off as soon as I step outside the house (don't get me wrong - the house is very nice) I feel instantly better, I just go for a walk through the forest, find somewhere peaceful and listen to the birds and watch the deer and just watch nature going on around me.

I have found this very spiritually uplifting and it has made me feel better and more well than I have felt for some months now. When I go and walk in the woods and fields I feel so euphoric and connected to the earth. There is something about being around trees that is very theraputic, it is a very healing passtime. I am going to start taking a sketch book with me and start drawing again.

I would recommend a daily walk in a green place for anyone at a low ebb. It is great and doesn't cost a thing, plus if you get some knowledge of wild foods you can stop and have a snack while you are out ;)

Peace :)

Yep. Totally agree with the above. I always feel better when I'm outside and around nature. But more specifically, away from town centres, built up areas, roads, just modern life in general really. I hate being in crowds of people who are rushing from one place to the next with their glazed eyes and slack jawed look who when they do meet your gaze usually accompany it with "what the fuck are you looking at".

Where I live at the moment, there used to be a view across a field where at dusk we could watch an owl glide across looking for food. Notice I say 'used to be'. There is now a half built low cost housing scheme taking place. From living on the edge of the village when we moved here we are now almost in the middle of it. Bastards!!!!
