For those of you who don't know what "Galt's Gulch" is, it's essentially a term which means a hidden community, away from the wider world, where people can live in peace and freedom, getting its name from the novel "Atlas Shrugged".
I've been thinking about possible locations for such a place lately, and thought I would get the thoughts of the DI forum on suitable locations, parameters and considerations.
Some assorted links which relate:-

I'm currently looking to see if this problem can be solved merely by moving to a so-called "tax-haven".
Andorra
Bahamas
Caymans
Nauru
These look like possibilities. Anyone know anything useful about any of them that can't be gleamed by googling?

I don't know anything about those places, but I know it is very easy to disappear into a valley on Canadian crown land in the Rockies. I have no idea if this is accurate, but I have heard that suatter's rights apply to crown land - that is to say, if you're there with your shit in place for an amount of time (7 years?), that land is yours. So, that's probably not helpful at all... hm.

Bahamian guitar is in a world of it's own.. grab some "joseph spence".. that would be a good enough reason for me to move. Once i'd picked up the nuances knowing me i'd feel restless and take off in the pursuit of more guitar
*stuff* to learn.

LOL
Just as an aside... the tropics or the carribean are not every man/woman's thing. I lived on maui for a while and i can tell you that when there are no shades of green.. no bloody nuances.. just tropical vegation.. it gets on your wick after a while... that and the lack of fucking tatties of course.

I think I could live without spuds, but not bread!
I guess I could grow wheat, but a technological community would be preferable
