These are some lyrics I wrote, I haven't written any in awhile.

---

shattered reflection

if you knew what to do
could you even do it?
would you change your situation
or cycle through your manipulations?
this aggravation slowly starts to get to me
I'm finished with the things that you have said to me
you can't cry your way out now
because you're dead to me
so it's over

if you did the right things
would it even matter?
for all the wrong things you've done
I'm too far up the ladder
I'll look back down and smile
but in just a little while
you'll fade from view

lucky you
still where you want to be

the time has come and gone
there's nothing left to fix
one time you said you loved me
but you don't know what love is
it's alright, I can forgive
yet still you cannot see
all the hurt you brought to me
but no apologies
so it's over

if I did the wrong things
would it even matter?
for all the right things I've done
you're too far down the ladder
You'll look up ahead and smile
but in just a little while
I'll fade from view

lucky you
still where you want to be

this time you were born ugly
so I wasn't reeled in
you're eaten up by guilt
staring at your shattered reflection

I read the thread heading and thought, great title for a poem. Yeah, great title for a song.

There's an ache in there.

Thanks, I really like the title too. Yes, there is an ache, but what can you do? I moved on a long time ago, just randomly thought of this person as a muse today.

Thanks for your input! I appreciate it.

Pain and suffering is great for stimulating artistic growth or expression .

Not for me...I may be an emotional wimp but I tend to stay away from that as much as possible....I could never write a song like that if it was based on anything in my experience.. would not want relive any of it. .... good writing nevertheless!

Hey MC,

lol, I wrote something about 9 years ago about the infinite reflections of a shattered whole - I saw the title to your thread and thought fuck i wrote that before then saw your name lol :-)

The poems nice - quite different to the one i wrote though - although theirs others that are quite similar too :-)

Hey, the ache is your salvation :-)
If you didn't ache where would your motivation come from?

Love is pain ;-)

It's cathartic it releases it . rather than it festering away within to come back as disease let it all out .:D

Definitely sounds like an internal conflict between two opposing reflections of yourself, thou it may be about someone else? or twin/brother? I think another great title for it would be "Jacob's Ladder" due to the ladder theme in the lyrics.
