At the following link are a couple of videos showing how the media (FOX News in this case) use corporate PR videos and portray them as "news".

Nothing really surprising, but it is pretty blatant. Also many of the worlds governments including the US and UK also use such PR videos and have them fobbed off as "news".

Actually, I will have to disagree with you on this one :). Media is controlled, don't get me wrong. But what you are seeing here is a packaged material. This is how the local stations operate. They play national news packages that are sent from wherever. Many times there are simply not enough local news. So they plugged a prepackaged national story from an independent source, or the corporate level that they are affilliated with. It is pretty common also for the channels to "trade" packages. How do I know that? I worked for one of such facility. In fact, if you turn on your "local" news channel you might be surprised to find out that the news is being presented in some other city and beamed via satellite live. It is a pretty common practice now. To save the costs on equipment and personel, the channels build remote news production facility. The reporters gather the local news and then send it to the centralized facility for "packaging" and presentation via "talking heads" on screen.

As far as "advertising plugs"... believe it or not the local channels are pretty strict about these. On corporate level "i.e. national FOX and national CNN ABC and whatever" they do whatever the hell they want. Unfortunatly, most of the local stations 75% consist of prepackaged national stories. Believe you me ... the reporters are not too happy about it, but they have little choice. Nevertheless, your local news is probably by far more independent from corporate influence. But, since the arrival of the net you have many alternatives.... and as a person who knows how the things work... in fact if you turn on the TV you might still see my work to this day in almost 30 states (I produced animation packages for news) I will be the first one to tell you to throw the box out of the window. Apart from money and education system, it is the single most influential thing in our society.

Jeesus don't get me started on the news. The radio news is the worst..the terminology/phraseology they use in reports is blatant subconcious 'programming' and i just hate it.

I am beginning to 'see' all this subtle programming in movies/tv 'programmes'/radio/magazines fucking everywhere and it's getting worse.

We are just little 'programmes' running around in a massive hard drive doing what we are told.

Meh!

I'll never do what I'm told by anyone or anything. I'm glad I dont have a TV & from reading these posts I think people should simply dump their TV's. If I can do it, then anyone can.

Nice One dave... I've ditched SKY ages ago but still have a TV but I'm not paying the license any more as its Treason. Watching TV News is like a Jack and Jill story these days. Its so blatant people must start to see through it all soon.

You can get National and Local UK Contact details and Addresses for Media including Newspapers here:
http://www.mediauk.com

Send them DVD's, articles anything you can. Especially at local level.

Yeah I've been thinking about doing that for a while now. Just a disgrace with all the crap they seem to put up on the channels as "truth" or "enjoyable". X-Factor anyone -_-?

Controlled Media (http://www.thethoughts.co.uk/thoughts/fake-news-monkey-metaphysics-part-2/)

The media creates the illusion that the candidates are our leaders. In fact, they are members of the elite who also own the media.
Both Bush and Kerry pretend to be opposed. Distant cousins, they are both members of an occult secret society, the Illuminati "Skull and Bones" at Yale. You would think this would disqualify them from "public service."
The two men and their respective parties act as giant pincers keeping the sheep in their pen. They are the two arms of a great mental straitjacket. They define the boundaries of the debate. People like Ralph Nader need not apply.
Although the major parties barely differ, they have polarized the US population into two warring camps. Thus Americans ignore the true enemy, the sponsor of both parties.
