How would I post a screenshot?

When it's up on your screen - press PrtSc (short for 'print screen' you see! ;))

Then ummmmm.....do some other stuff....which ends up with you posting a screen shot! :D

I just realised, I only know how to get a picture into a Word doc or similar! :o

Actually, no. Although I heard there's a way you can flood the world on it and see how far the water had to raise before it flooded your house! :D

That would be fun! :)

Very strange.

I can't think of any natural phenomenon that would produce such a straight line and at depth.

I haven't got Google earth. But I would be interested to know how long this trench go's for??

Looks like a dredged channel to me, one channel seems to veer away and head toward the port. Which is what led me to assume it's something to do with shipping.

I heard an unconfirmed rumor that Google Earth now has an underwater/undersea option. Don't know what it's called or if this rumor I only heard once is even true.

We have Google Earth. Krakhead, it's free, you just have to download it off the net. You can also view space, constellations. I haven't used that feature in a long time, I think it's called Google Sky but don't hold me to that.

Street Level is also neat.

Check this out. There are a lot of odd things on the sea bed. Grid pattern is obvious:

30°51'42.22"N

23°16'46.38"W

Holy fuck check the sea bed around that area. lots of grid patterns with connecting lines.

Note also that the grid seems oriented to the east

Gotta play with Google Earth again. I originally downloaded it for my father thinking he would enjoy it. He did for a few minutes and that was that.

I didn't really do much with it myself and must learn how to key coordinates, save locations, 'fly' from here to there, etc. You have reignited my interest with it. Perhaps between studies, forum socializing (I'm so bad with that!) and when I get the house to MYSELF later this week I will play with it again.

Ocean trench formations are very interesting indeed! Makes ya wonder. Hey, if they (UFO's) can fly from A to B, why not station themselves underwater now or in the past? Or perhaps the images could be evidence of past human civilizations that flourished long ago and were destroyed by natural calamities?

I HAVE ALWAYS raised the subject of the Bimini Road to no one's interest. Scientists state it is a natural formation. Nature can surprise us, no doubt.

There is a scientitst who is convinced the underwater pyramid(s) off the Japan coast is natural. Feh! Fortunately, there are many other scientists who disagree with that and are investigating the structure(s) and the surrounding soil foundation for evidence of a disaster that may have caused the earth to sink there.

Maybe you can Google that to observe? Might be interesting, might not be. :)

To the west of Ireland, just off the continental shelf you will see many straight lines, grids and diagonal lines running for hundreds of miles. I'm not sure if they are physical or are artefacts from the ship's courses while mapping the sea-bed.

Hi coco the rumour you heard was true and I started a thread on it last year, here is the article:

October 7, 2008
Google Earth plumbs the depths of the oceans
Murad Ahmed, Technology Reporter

Google Earth, the online mapping service that offers a bird's-eye view of the globe, will now let users see underwater landscapes from around the world.

The new feature lets people go on a virtual dive, seeing some of the most endangered marine spots on the planet. The software, which can be downloaded now, comes with video streams, photo galleries and stories from marine protected areas across the globe.

It has been produced as part of the Google Earth Outreach programme, which gives charities and campaign groups access to Google's data and programming resources. Previous projects have shown the sites of attacks on refugees in the Darfur region of Sudan and the environmental impact of mining in the Appalachian Mountains.

For the latest project, undersea views include those of the habitat of threatened species that live off the coast of England.
Related Links

Natural England, the Government’s conservation agency, has contributed information about 43 marine sites that offer protection to species such as the basking shark, as well as seahorses, corals and algae.

Dr Helen Phillips, chief executive of Natural England, said she hoped that the project would bring the marine environment to life and raise awareness of the need to conserve and enhance it.

“There needs to be a change in attitudes towards protecting our oceans,” Dr Phillips said. “The diversity of marine wildlife around England’s coastline is exceptional. We have everything from whales through to microscopic phytoplankton.

“But we need an enhanced marine protection system to help conserve our undersea environment.”

The new site is being launched at the International Union for the Conservation of Nature’s world conservation congress in Barcelona.

The group’s new global web portal, Protect Planet Ocean, also launched today, will provide information on what it says is the urgent need to strengthen the protection provided for the marine environment.
