I saw The Village when it first came out on DVD but I just treated it like a general horror/conspiracy movie as I was only just starting to "wake up" back then. I am gonna have to watch it again sometime :)

Sorry haggy but I didn't care for Village or Signs....thought they were both run of the mill cliched garbage....started out good but quickly degenerated into the same ol same ol...still gave you 5 stars cuz you are an awesome forum member and I appreciate most of your posts!

Every May Day in Oxford there is a huge street party the night before May Day and at Dawn all the revelers, University and Townsfolk alike, gather on Magdalen Bridge under the tower to watch the sun rise and hear the Newcollege choir sing from the top of the tower. Many have noticed how they've been attacking and destroying independent indigenous cultures outside Europe, for example how they wiped out the Native Americans under the Conquistadors, but they also try to oppress indigenous native local traditions within their European heartland. This is what were seeing here! Its time to stand up against it!

I wonder if movies (eg Wolf Creek) are used as a means of keeping the people in their OWN little "village". Wolf Creek is probably gonna stop a hell of alot of us venturing beyond the boundaries of OUR own particular "village". Not many people are gonna wanna escape to the Aussie outback after seeing Wolf Creek.
And it's not just MOVIES that keep us in fear of venturing "beyond the boundaries", it is also the mainstream media and "education" that keeps us from crossing "boundaries", whether they be physical, mental, or spiritual.

They won't, no, but horror films are like most other genres, they can be good or bad for the human spirit depending on their themes and message and how they are made. I thought The Mist was brilliant and very thought provoking. American Psycho was deeply satirial of materialistic Western Conformism, although it's not rerally a horror film; it's more "splatterpunk".
