Went searching for a Blacks Law Dictionary today in my local library and found one in the reference section, good start. Can anyone tell me whether this will surfice Black's-A Handbook of Basic Law Terms Black's Law Dictionary Series: Amazon.co.uk: Bryan A. I don't really understand why people have such a fetish about this dictionary, at least as far as Brits go. It's an American law dictionary and its definitions do not carry any legal force as such anyway.
If you're looking for clear definitions of legal terms, then fair enough, but I get the impression that some people think "this is the law because Black's Law Dictionary says so", which simply isn't the case.

blacks law is american you are right but to stick a knife in the potato its also used in english courts too.

I think Black's Law is so popular because it is so comprehensive. I have yet to find a Law dictionary, primarily for English Law, that comes anywhere near being as useful as Blacks.
To the OP - it sounds like something else - not THE dictionary in question.

for £40 off eBay UK.
