PLEASE Keep coming back to this thread/post, I will be adding to it.

I have real trouble on this site, I AM NOT complaining. I am just asking, if you have noticed any weird editing problems or starnge pc website behaviour could you let us know here please?

here is an example, an elder brother from native land, but has no time to see this thread :( > HERE < (http://www.davidicke.com/forum/showpost.php?p=53554&postcount=30)

Another > EXAMPLE < (http://www.davidicke.com/forum/showpost.php?p=26511&postcount=6)

Another example When I try to look at this website in a tab or new window it closes my browser down. Is it the website or something else doing this?

OK you MAY think I have taken this out of context, but as I put it into the context I am creating here, I haven't

I spend so long editing posts here that I have given up at times, it makes me look like I have no keyboard skills whatsoever .....

It's funny you should mention that, because in the last couple of weeks I've been noticing weird stuff happening on my PC. I have had loads of spyware detected, and I had to format my hard drive.

Now I'm mostly on this forum, and It's never happened before until recently. I think someone is pissing around with the forum. Hackers?

I don't think it is this forum, guys. No problems here. I delete all cookies at the end of every session and sometimes during. When I run checks for malware etc, rarely is anything picked up. it could be links that you are clicking on. Some of them have pop ups and all sorts of crap. That is why I clear everything regularly.

When number one grandson was staying a few months ago, he downloaded some crap that kept restoring itself even after it had all been deleted or removed. At one point I had about 400 nasties and puter was grinding to a halt  I was not a happy camper because I had just had a new hard drive put in. I did a system restore to a point before he arrived and, thank God, it worked. I threatened him with a slow and painful death if ever downloaded stuff onto my computer again. :D

i must be honest, i've not had any major problems on this site, it's always best to copy and paste as you go along, i've lost many posts over the years on other forums, it can be kinda soul destroying.

I believe it might, (lol) end up only being UK, US, unless anyone knows different, and even then only a few will notice it, the messages I am getig suggest it is more, I just wish people would speak up if they see this or have weird little things,

Just because you are not aware of it, doesnt mean its not true.

PS I have always been an excellent speller (read into that, what you will) I have been uisng a keyboard for 25 years

the stuff I write in notepad, is fine, the stuff I write on this iste is not, I have a site of my own, no problem, I occasionaly go on a bout 3 other 'safe' sites (I am not suggesting this site isnt safe) the other sites are fine too

If anyone wants to test this out by making some random posts in here and double checking their spelling before they hit submit, go ahead.

To clarify - this website and server does not carry any Virus' or spyware. It's perfectly secure. Any forum or technical problems are either human or software-based. This site uses php and html, and nothing which downloads to your computer.

The forum and main website (for subscribers) uses a very simple cookie for login purposes, which gets wiped when you log off or remain inactive for a period of time.

If anyone is detecting spyware or virus' on their computer, it's not from this website. it's best to not go on any websites until it has been completely cleaned out with anti spyware and anti virus software, as auron has done.

As a rule, if using Windows XP - don't use the internet for browsing when logged in as an administrator. Don't download programmes from untrusted or unknown sources. Don't download activex controls from unknown or untrusted websites (this site uses NONE). Block popups. Visit the porn sites less often.

I personally have had no problems of the kind the festival spirit describes, and as you can well imagine, being a FA means I am logged on to the forum for probably longer periods of time than many users.

So I'd be inclined to agree with Sean that any probs some might be experiencing are more likely being picked up from outside sources...maybe links included in some posts.

sean means nothing other than the pages in the forum/site that you access.
But it could be things other than spelling mistakes, eg, quotes not reproducing correctly or missing. or anything unusual.

As a rule, if using Windows XP - don't use the internet for browsing when logged in as an administrator. Block popups. Visit the porn sites less often.

NEVER (if possible) go on the internet as an administrator, it allows anyone hacking you to get complete access to your pc.

these problems may not occur all the time, check out some of my longer posts they seem to have less errors in them.

unfortunately thats just one of the characteristics of vbulletin, its so threads dont get 'lost' by changing its name, almost impossible to find without reading the actual thread.

Hi There

I am glad you posted this because the last three days my computer has been doing the same as Ians post, I have been logged in then it has crashed out and back to the main windows xp homepage.

I am starting to think now that its probably some link I may have clicked that people have either posted or recommended and it has somehow messed up my computer as its gone very slow

PLEASE Keep coming back to this thread/post, I will be adding to it.

I can no longer edit certain things, I cannot remove pictures I want to remove, I have so much trouble here it may not be worth me paying the subscription fee, I so wanted to offer david in financial support. but I will not be beaten by bigots, I have made a career of that. an unpaid 100% succesful career of that

have you by any way got a HP computer
Mine messes up all the time
Infact they came to take it back today
but i was out

Its a nuisance , I know but its only a machine and they go wrong all the time,
Get a network of people you can speak with'

Then you will not feel so lost
if your machine breaks down

Go for walks in the countryside
Study nature ,in minituae
Speak to people who have contrary views to yourself,
Listen to what they say

You will not be dissapointed

Hi cheeb, Thank you for the question.

I don't use a HP. I once took one apart though when I was teaching classes of PC maintenance. I personally wouldnt be seen dead with a HP. And I have no problem with anyone else owning one, I just would not choose to.

Machines do go wrong hence me volunteering to help the local technical college provide free pc maintenance classes, I can teach anyone to build a pc in twenty minutes or so, not that I am bragging, anyone can do it.

I thnak you for teh warning about not feeling lost when a machine breaks down, but trust me there is NOTHING wrong with MY machine. And I have three machines in perfect working order and I have the parts to build probably another six, right now. I would never allow myself to get lost, over a machine that belongs to me!

Funny you should mention a network of people to talk to, I have literally had that right taken away from me today in some threads I posted in.

And also last night was the first night I attempted to 'make real' a network of people to talk to (about a completely diufferent thing we are talking about now,) but there are three people minimum from this site who were willing to join that network and allow me to teach them things. Not heard form any of them MUCH today though, I wonder why. They may just be busy though, I accept that, I have no problem, I was just saying as you brought it up, none coincidentally.

AS for that, I think you are presuming too much ;) but its ok, I do go for walks in the countryside a LOT. I have studied nature and human natiur for about 40 years ;) I do speak to peopel that have contrary views to me, a lot, (and its only the ones who are unreasonable, prejudiced, discriminatory. and disrespectful, that I CANNNOT be arsed with. I do listen to what they say, how else could I find that they were any of those things, ;)

I am only disappointed by people who 'choose to be' ignorant and the other terms above ;)

BUT, I know what you mean, and I can take it, I am just expressing myself in a calm and confident manner.

As I imagined you did.

Love Peace and RESPECT

Shaun

Firstly this is not an accusation, but people would be wise not to think I don't know what I am talking about, I have a very good memory, I can prove that. it will be called into question soon (probably)

EDIT: to add 'choose to be'

Hi misscpb,

The slowness of the forum can often be caused when high numbers of visitors are using it. We are in the process of upgrading our bandwidth to facilitate the higher number of users on this site. Sorry if it gets slow sometimes!

What actually happens when your screen crashes? Do you mean you log out too soon when trying to make a post? If so, i'd advice to select "remember me" when logging in and you should stay permanently logged in until you select "log out".

Hi festival spirit,

After a certain amount of time the ability for a user to edit posts is disabled. If you need something edited, you need to ask a moderator to do it for you. Nothing broken here.

Hi Sean

Its not the slowness that bothers me, I know the site can be very busy. For some reason I am not sure why, but my screen totally closes down any web pages open and goes back to the main windows xp and at times it just freezes with the web pages on it so I have to reboot the computer. Who said computers are the way forward hey  bring back telepathic and crystal communication anyday ha ha.

Take Care
