When passing through the tube stations of London it one can't help feeling that Rupert Murdoch has decided to support Barack Obama in the upcoming election and The Times is going to town on a photograph of him outside Number 10.

However, if a palm reader were to look at his clearly displayed right hand they might have some doubts about his suitability for the position of a president with the authority to 'push the button' and start a nuclear conflagration.

In the photograph the thumb turns inwards but, as a photograph is but a frozen moment in time, it might not be his usual way of holding his thumb. However, if it is it indicates a self-willed nature. Once he's made up his mind about something it will then be very difficult for anyone to change his mind or induce him to change his direction. The strongest mount is indicated by his third finger showing that he sees himself as something of an individual and likes a starring or individualistic role in whatever he does. His little finger is also strong and suggests a person who is very 'in touch' and astute while his first finger, although not strong, is straight and has a noticeable pad underneath and so he does have a lot of ambition. But because the third finger is stronger than the first on the hand it is ambition of an individualistic kind and this combination is quite common to find in politicians. Churchill had it but Mrs. Thatcher didn't.

As far as the lines are concerned the Head Line, or second horizontal line on the hand, shows great depth in the early part but then lightens up and becomes less clear in its later stages. This indicates that in the early part of his life there is a lot of mental activity and decisiveness but later he will tend to become mentally more easy going. But what is most interesting about this line is that shortly before the line weakens, a drooping line from the Heart Line, the top horizontal line, seems to suck energy from the head. In traditional palmistry this is believed to indicate that his heart will run away with his head and if you look closely, just after this drooping line joins the Heart Line, the Heart Line itself becomes weaker and less clearly defined. His emotions after the event will not be as sure and clear cut as they were before. Also, the Life Line, the one which curls around the base of his thumb, looks to be in poor condition and indicates that he is unlikely to ever live a secure and settled lifestyle.

An interesting point to note is that in later life the Fate Line, the one which runs up the centre of his hand under the middle finger, becomes quite clear and well marked and this leads to the conclusion that career, or whatever he personally decides to work for, will, in the later part of his life, become his guiding force and take precedence over both his emotional life and his thoughts.

This last book was previously known as A Manual of Up-To-Date Palmistry but as it was only distributed through charity shops, it may be hard to find. However, if you are in Australia you should find a copy in Sydney’s Library of New South Wales.

19102008: Watching the way Obama held the thumb of his right hand when being filmed having dinner with his opponent I sure many palm readers will have serous cause for concern. All is not as it appears to be.

That's right, now that he's soon to be president, he has to brush up on his "sigh hail". The one in the pic needs more practice - if not done properly it can look like a wave, but if done too well, it can be too obvious. Bush jr often did it too well. Obama will get better at it, keep an eye out!

Just had a quick look at Obamas lines.

His heart line is very strong..notice how it goes straight up to jupiter the index finger...he is very dominant in relationships, emotionally excessively strong and his views are strict and disciplined..What he says goes - emotionally he 'directs' the family and....personally..I would,nt argue with him..;)

Looking at the lifeliine its pretty long but he has a dual lifeline at the beginning which shows that he had another occupation or another career decision perhaps earlier on in his life...he is also very protected until he is in his early twenties. He is like a cat with nine lives too, he bounces right back if trouble comes along.

He has a very strong head line, if you look its nearly right over his palm landing on the other side not sure if thats Mars where it lands but he is a mathematician, this guy can work things out instantly, hes incredibly logicaly reaches decisions quickly and can apply the result in double quick time..a very great mind and someone with good brain capacity..would have made a good financial accountant...

he has plenty of travel lines there.

The fate line is interesting because it comes from the side of the hand slips upwards and joins/bumps into the life line...I think he was always headed in direction of president....he just came from the outside...and we all know that...this man is very special in my opinion...

I notice there is a death when he was younger about 26 ish, could be sooner might have been someone he was close too.

This guy is artistic, he can draw and he can make things, a great carpenter if he tried his hands are long and slender, artistic in every way...he also has the ability to play a piano.

I hope people will give him a chance....but to be honest, this is an iron fist inside a velvet glove.

Yes I looked at the right hand as the palm was clearer.

I think Obama is much more resiliant then might be perceived. He has a hell of a lot of grit in his personality and he has a dominant character. Jupiter, the index finger is leadership and as his heart line strongly pushes its way right up to the bottom where finger joins the palm it shows great power emotionally.

So I would expect all his speeches to be very emotionally empowering and emotionally driven so that they really get to peoples inner selves. Obama can light all the candles in many american hearts and it wont be difficult for him to do that because of his direct heartfelt attitude.

I dont know whether thats dangerous or not but you could look at it both ways. Firstly because - even the hardest of hearts can be transformed with words that hit the nerve center and touch the emotion pulse - and Obama can do that without doubt as he will continually prove.

This trait cannot be classed as manipulation though...because there is nothing about it that suggests deviousness...you see, when something is projected powerfully and emotionally and hits the spot, you cant argue with it can you?...:cool: So provided that nobody takes a pot shot at him or interferes with his 'health' he will have some far reaching speeches to make that will make people sit up and think.
