This has been a topic I have been really curious about in recent years as it's something I have observed in a friend of mine's brother, who has been diagnosed with so many disorders and illnesses it reads like a laundry list. Since I've known this guy from childhood, Wood's his name, he's hands-down the craziest guy I've ever met. I watched this guy burn cigarettes down to the filter on his hand for fun, take over 40 gravol's to get high and still have enough time left in the day to get arrested for masterbating in public (I'm not making this up, this guy's spent half of his life under the age of 18 in juvenile hall). Years later he did get better after being sent away for robbing an arcade, but all together this guy was born with his own set of demons. To keep this post as much to-the-point as possible I'll leave it at that, but lets just say that's the sugar-coated version of this guy Wood.

Well being close with this family, I watched this sort of behavior for years from this guy, and one thing I noticed was at certain periods he would be more aggressive and hostile than usual, sometimes exceedingly so, and this was almost jokingly referred to as his "time of the month". What I learned later was that this 'time of the month' was during full moons, and this was something that the doctors noticed too when he was institutionalised. They even had a word for it, but I forget what it was, because it was a phenomenon that they regularly encountered. The problem was combated, as mostly everything is these days, by simply keeping Wood tranquilised during these periods, and this continues to this day.

Today, this guy Wood takes about a dozen different kinds of medication to keep himself pretty much docile, and included in his medicine routine is everything from diazepam to rohypnol that's perscribed according to lunar cycles. So every month, when the full moon rolls around, this guy's just drugged for about 3 days straight with tranqs to keep him out of trouble.

I'm wondering if anyone else knows of or has heard of this phenomenon, as me and my friend got into a lengthy discussion about it the other night. I think there may be some mythological accounts of this from history that have manifested themself as our modern-day "Wolf man", or warewolf. It would certainly fit the bill, at least.

Anyways, let me know what you think.

Oh, and P.S. Wood's no longer masterbating in public and robbing people, but if 12 different kinds of medication wouldn't curb that behavior I don't know what would.:(
