I decided to look on youtube for that Biosphere stuff... sounds pretty good, I like it!

I listen to chillout sometimes, but I don't really know bands or stuff. But I'll look for those that you mentioned.

i LOVE Zero 7, Tosca, Boozou Bajou, Fink, Weekend Players, Dzihan and kamien, Blue States, the Dining Rooms and others, but they are more of chillout & lounge music than ambient.
(I have like 100 DVD's of basically chillout/lounge/ambient/downtempo/ music!)

Global Communication !!! They are the business! If I remember rightly I think they also do Chilled house music as well, kinda' like the sort of 'filtered french house housic you get. Yeah one of the tunes is called "the way" (if I can Remember). Also years ago there was a compilation called "feed your head" which had a couple of realy good ambient tracks on there. I'm into house/techno/acid house & really should catch up on the ambient stuff out there.

I wouldn't say that's ambient. That's lounge. It's really annoying how many radio stations say they play ambient when it's nothing but lounge. *shrug*

Yeah, great track. MTV? What the heck? If they played something like that on MTV right now, 19 out of 20 people would flip the channel!

There is so much amazing ambient music out there. The genre is limitless because you can take just about any sound in nature AND devise your own, therefore the diversity of ambient music is already being felt.

I write ambient (alongside other stuff). I've been writing electronic music since the '80s, I'm currently building my own modular synthesizer for my studio. The first stuff I had released on vinyl was in 1992, and released loads of Dance/Trance/Breakbeat stuff since. I've always written a load of electronica/ambient/soundtrack stuff in between, but never had any released. I would love this unreleased stuff to get out there, but wouldn't know where to send it. Some of my friends say it would work great as incidental music for programmes such as Dr Who.

If anyone has contacts that might be of use, please get in touch.

I knew you had good taste,i was child when I discovered him.My parents had this boring dinner, this is 1977-78.I ran away on my bicycle, rode through suburbs of SW Sydney...coming home at 11pm.They did'nt even notice.Channel 7 was on,this late night programme,After Dark...and they showed 2 film clips that changed my life,Iggy Pop live singing Lust For Life....
then Roxy Music, singing Virginia Plain...eno was sporting make-up and peacock feathers, blew my mind, still get goosebumps when I watch these vids.
...I'm nearly 39,now,and it still seems fresh after all these years. If I was forced to pick one album about Ambient music,it would be Apollo Atmospheres
even though he first introduced it with Another Green World...best tracks from that album,is Becalmed and The Big Ship.I even got mum in my teens to
design a Brian Eno bed cover, using hobbytext and she painted four panels of
the cover Another Green world...I still have it,put away though...take care.

...hey,I'm real old school...I think the most modern music I have is some Euro
Trance, yuck, The White Stripes and The Strokes...honestly,there's alot of hero garbadge around that I can't stand, unfortunately the youth get violent too...Maybe they should chill and get into Ambient...relaxes the soul.

I love the appollo atmospheres :) I often listen to that & play computer scrabble to take a break from all the info on this site! I had a lucky upbringing music wise, I'm the youngest with 3 brothers & a sister, all into different styles. It was good to hear Eno & Bowie working together again on "Outside" :)

...I had to wait till my broadband was offpeak, that was a great MySpace page
featuring two tracks from Apollo Atmospheres, and one from Another Green World...You got me on the collaboration with Bowie, and it will be good to see
them together again. Not since The Lodger and the other two Berlin albums
Heroes and Low...Low,you could argue is Bowie dipping his toe into ambient
experimentalization...although,I favoured Lodger out of the 3 here...Repetition
being the stand-out track, about an overworked wife-beater,dissatisfied with
routine...great to have your input....hahahaha...someone said to you the other day,"look,I'm arguing with Nick Cave"...I would be flattered...:)

HA ha! well I like Nick Cave, saw him live twice :) but calling people names on the internet is quite pathetic....someone called me Kriss Angel a few days before that! & had a go at me for using my real photo...I use it because I have nothing to hide! I thought I'd try to bring a bit of humanity to the forum :) Have you heard Philip Glass's interpretation of "Low" & "Heroes" ? There's a thread about Glass somewhere on here. Ambient,I'm seeking down some early Robert Fripp and Roebius and Moebius,
should have them in a week...I just got Evening Star on an old LP...will take a few weeks to convert it to digital, let you know what it's like....take care
