I've some small experience in meditation, being someone who takes time out every day for it, for the last several years.
I have only recently began trying for out of body experiences.
After my first few attempts, unfortunately i have found myself at the same halting, grinding stop sign.
I relax and ease myself into it, but at a certain point, fear grips me and I start to feel a forgetting of my body, and I have a fear that I am paralysed and unable to move. And I jerk myself out of it.
I can't seem to get past this stage of fear.
Part of me hopes that it's just that im unused to the awareness of the coming detachment from my body.
Does anyone have anything to help me? Suggestions of things i can do to ease myself into the process?
Is obe something that can be achieved through attempts, and practice? Sometimes progressive, other times not so, always a chance of it being successful or otherwise?
Or is it something of the genius, that will one day just click and will come naturally then on after?

At some point you might feel a falling sensation, keep trying until you get that then you have to fall. After a few times you might snap out of it instinctively but let yourself go.
One main thing though, concentrate and relax, it might seem at odds but the relaxation is quite tiring in a way as you have to consciously relax and measure your breathing.
My first time was the last as I have been trying to get into it for a long time, unfortunately a head full of thoughts abut the human material world has so far prevented my return.

Thank you for the help, that's really encouraging. I guess I need to just let go. I'll get there eventually I hope.

this sounds familiar .
just keep going . eventually that fear will go .
the fact that you recognise what is happening is already a brilliant large step because eventually , because your brain recognises this situation , one day it will counter act the fear switch on its own and allow you to progress unhindered .
im always touched by seeing things like this .
its good to hear .
keep going , but dont force it . keep up the curiosity .
i cant wait to hear how you get on in a few weeks or months time .
it could even be
tommorrow !

Have no fear, it's the same force as bravery, just opposite poles i'm dealing with the same thing at this moment, even if you are thinking you're gonne die, continue and have faith in yourself, not what's written on a internet board...
All the kowledge of what to do is right in yourself, don't listen to us thrust in your own feeling/gut/intuition, you are your reality
