Circular patterns and formations do not only occur in grain fields, beans, thistles, corn, rice, reed, wild grass and so forth. Circlular formations (as rings, concentric rings or spirals) is also found in other media at different seasons all around the globe.

Here are some pictures for those of you who haven't seen this before

BENT TREE TRUNKS!
Circles have occasionally appeared in trees (forests) where the actual trunks, which are bent towards the ground, form a ring. Thick tree trunks are bent right above the root in a similar way to the grain stems in the crop circles, as the images below, from the Czech Republic (shown on Italian television) clearly demonstrate. We can see that the trunks are bent towards the centre of the circle. Regrettably no pictures were taken from some altitude, but there are good close-ups of this rare phenomenon.

Perfect Circles Found in Ground in New Mexico

http://img37.picoodle.com/img/img37/4/7/19/f_nm071208smam_f027151.jpg

New Mexico-07-12-08-My husband found these circles Monday, July 14, and called to see if I knew anything about them. He was going into the horse arena to spread with our manure spreader when he noticed them. I was home all weekend, and did not hear anything out in the arena.

The only thing that I can think back about that was unusual was that sometime late in the night on Saturday, I woke up to find my lab pup up on the love seat in our bedroom looking out at the arena. Once I spoke to him, he just gave me a strange look and laid back down. When there is someone or something on or near the property, he and my other dogs bark quite loudly. He did not even growl!

The circles are approximately 20 ft. in diameter and approximately in the ground about 1-2 inches. There are absolutely no tracks leading up to the arena from anywhere on or near our property.

If you would like pictures, I can send you an e-mail and also there is a video that a local tv station did on Tuesday the 15th. If you go on KOAT.TV and type in the search engine "crop circles in east mountains" it will pull up the page with the segment that they did along with the aerial view of the arena.

You will see tire tracks in the arena, which was made by us with our manure spreader, but no other tracks can be found.

See KOAT video report on this case at the following URL:

On the subject of circles and vibration/soundwaves, there are occasional spates of humming noises, some attributed to air conditioning but they have been going on a lot longer than a/c units, domestic and commercial electricity supplies even. There are hums in Hawaii attributed to volcanic activity which means that activities deep underground can have effects on the surface. In areas of high tectonic and volcanic activity such sounds can be understandable. There are those which are not, which can't be, that isn't to say that there isn't something going on underneath the ground. Perhaps they are tunelling again...

Strange Formation of Ice-Circles Discovered in Russia

As circles and rings in ice-covered lakes and river-bays have become a relatively numerous documented phenomenon - especially in Scandinavian and other northern European and American countries, the latest case of an ice-circle in Russia (exact location and date of discovery unfortunately unknown) just adds another case of this most likely naturally caused circle-phenomenon.

Two Images Above-"Normal" ice circle in Russia, (likely) Winter 2007/08-Source: englishrussia.com

Some believe that the natural explanation for this phenomenon are underwater vortices cause by through-running streams that follow natural outlines of bays and coves just as visible also in the above shown images, as well as differences in the water's temperature that might impact also the forming of the above ice-structure in such a way.

However, some rare examples of geometrically more complex patterns put the above described theory to the test - at least if presented as a simple single vortex-system or as the sole explanation for all patters in ice.

http://img03.picoodle.com/img/img03/3/11/21/f_4m_dea1a8c.jpg

Two images above-This seems also to be the case with another discovery from Russia, published by "englishrussia.com" mid July 2008. Here a central circular ice disc - likely discovered the previous winter or early spring - is surrounded by dozens of smaller different sized ice discs, that are even able to carry a grown up person's weight (see: following image).

Man Stumbles on Round, Spinning ‘Creek Circle’

http://img33.picoodle.com/img/img33/3/12/23/f_creekcirclem_b9db0e0.jpg

A Mississauga man’s photo of a bizarre “creek circle” — a round piece of ice, spinning, on the surface of a frozen creek — has become an Internet hit.

Brook Tyler, a research director and amateur photographer, stumbled across the six-foot-wide circle on Saturday morning, as he strolled across Sheridan Creek in the Rattray Marsh Conservation area.

“It was a perfectly round circle with about two inches of slush and water around the sides, and it was spinning,” he said. “I was so excited to see if I could capture the movement.”

Mr. Tyler, 49, photographed the mysterious rotating disk, which he called a “creek circle” as a tongue-in-cheek jab at crop circles, unusual designs that have randomly appeared in farmers’ fields, and posted it to the Flickr photo-sharing Web site.

In the days since, it has drawn considerable attention online. BlogTO featured Mr. Taylor’s photo, and nearly 150,000 people viewed it on Digg, and debated its potentially paranormal origins.

Mr. Tyler insists he did not alter the photo, aside from brightening it a bit, and says the ice circle was not manmade.

“The ice was actually too thin on the creek to walk on and there was no footprints on the ice. The creek had just frozen,” he said.

This is not the first “creek circle” to appear in Canada.

Eight years ago, Joan LaForty stumbled across a similar phenomenon her backyard in Delta, Ont. The 15-foot-wide spinning circle of ice drew quite a crowd in the small eastern Ontario farming town.

“It was nature or environment or something. It wasn’t manmade. Not possible,” she said. “Unless it was a little guy from Mars up there, or a flying saucer or something. That’s what I thought at first.”

But don’t call in the ufologists just yet.

These close encounters can be explained by quick shifts in temperature, said Joe Desloges, a river specialist and geography professor at the University of Toronto.

Mr. Desloges explained that the frozen circles are actually ice pans, or surface slabs of ice that form in the center of a lake or creek, instead of along the water’s edge.

As water cools, it releases heat that turns into frazil ice – a collection of loose, needle shaped ice particles that can cluster together in an ice pan. If it accumulates enough frazil ice and the current is slow, over time, the pan can become a hanging dam – a dense, heavy piece of ice with high ridges and a low centre.

But he admits that the near-perfect circular shape of the Mississauga ice pan is very strange.

“Normally, you do not get edges of the ice pan so clean and even. It may occur when a pan forms quickly, then melts a bit before starting to refreeze,” he said. “There is the chance that these can form so perfectly, but not common at all.”

UFO allegedly lands on farm in Argentina

http://img02.picoodle.com/img/img02/3/1/28/f_UFO1Argentim_bca4834.jpg

The two circles shown above are either marks on the ground left behind by a UFO and therefore represent one of the most significant UFO related incidents to occur over the last few months or the remains of a hoax and therefore of no more value than the cow pats that surround them.
At 3 AM on January 14 2009 Argentinean farmer Nestor Rivoira and his wife Sara Fernandez of Arroyo Leyes, Santa Fe, were woken up by a loud noise coming from their paddock. The couple later described the sound as being similar to that of a blow torch. Nestor tried to get out of bed to see what was going on outside but claims that a mysterious force disabled him temporarily. Nestor also remembers that his normally brave guard dogs sounded like they were scared of whatever they encountered that night.
Only two days later did Nestor and Sara decide go out to inspect the area they thought the sound came from. What they found left them baffled: Two perfect circles one inside the other, the outer circle measuring three meters in diameter and both circles three centimeters deep. The indented area was completely burnt out with only dry dirt remaining. It appeared that the marks were created by something radiating heat.
The couple at first dismissed any ideas that the circles might have been created by a UFO, however friends and neighbors who saw the marks felt that they were of mysterious origin.
Did a spaceship land on Mr. Rivoira’s farm or are some local hoaxers sending them around in circles? Argentina is in the middle of a massive UFO flap with almost daily sightings and photo’s emerging. Did a technical problem force one of the many UFOs being seen in the region to make an unscheduled landing?

10ft Polar Ice Circle in Devon, -England

Ice one! Walker discovers 10ft-wide, spinning frozen arctic circle in British waters for the first time

We'd need a compass and a pencil, or a piece of string and a steady hand. But all nature needed to draw a perfect circle was a bend in the river.

This disc of ice, which measures 10ft across, was spotted in Devon during last week's freeze, swirling on the River Otter near Honiton.

It was spotted by Roy Jefferies who was out walking his dog.

http://img02.picoodle.com/img/img02/3/1/31/f_article1114m_3de864f.jpg

Ice circles are known to appear in the Arctic, Scandinavia and Canada,
but this is thought to be the first seen in Britain.

They occur at bends in the river where the accelerating water creates a force called 'rotational shear', which breaks off a chunk of ice and twists it around.

As the disc rotates, it grinds against surrounding ice - smoothing into a perfect circle.

Mr Jefferies was so amazed by what he saw that he called friend Graham Blissett, who has a keen interest in phenomena of this kind.

Both men were amazed by the slowly-rotating 10ft-wide and perfectly circular phenomenon which was stationary in the current. It was about 6ft from the bank near where a stream joined the river.

Mr Blissett said such discs were 'very, very rare' and he had never heard of one forming in England before.

'I couldn't believe it when he told me,' Mr Blissett said.

He grabbed his camera and raced to the river, where he captured photographs of the ice disc.

'I saw the most perfect circle of ice about 6ft from the edge of the bank,' said Mr Blissett.

'It was about 10ft in diameter and, on timing it, we discovered it was completing a revolution in four minutes and ten seconds.

'The air temperature at the time was sub-zero and the weather had been bitterly cold for the past week.'

Mr Blissett said such discs usually varied in diameter but some in Sweden had been recorded at more than 600m wide.

Sand Circle discovered (2008) in New Mexico, -USA

http://img02.picoodle.com/img/img02/3/3/11/kennet/f_Picture012m_790ef6c.jpg

My dad, Ken Stokley, returned home to his ranch in the East Mountains of New Mexico (due east of Albuquerque, near Tijeras), after visiting relatives in Michgan. Inside his horse arena he found 5 circles inside the corral that resembled crop circles, except they were in the dirt. This happened between Friday July 11 2008 & Sunday July 13th. Dad searched the area outside the arena and saw no tracks going in nor out of the arena. Later he drove his tractor inside the arena and examined and took photos of the circles, which are approximately 20 feet in diameter. His neighbour contacted a local newspaper, the Edgewood Independent. They cam out and took photos from the top of the fence. When this story broke, a news helicopter came out and took photos after everyone had tracked all through the arena, to include neighbours, etc. They interviewed Dad on the phone and he told them that he had driven his tractor around, but they neglected to include that info in the following broadcast: HERE

Circles in Thin Ice, Lake Baikal, -Russia

http://img29.picoodle.com/img/img29/2/5/25/kennet/f_ISS019E0105m_7863202.jpg

http://img31.picoodle.com/img/img31/2/5/25/kennet/f_irkutsktmo2m_4b4e1a6.jpg

Late in April 2009, astronauts aboard the International Space Station observed a strange circular area of thinned ice in the southern end of Lake Baikal in southern Siberia. Siberia is remote and cold; ice cover can persist into June. The upper image, a detailed astronaut photograph, shows a circle of thin ice (dark in color, with a diameter of about 4.4 kilometers); this is the focal point for ice break up in the very southern end of the lake. A sequence of MODIS images indicates that the feature was first visible on April 5, 2009.

Baikal contained another, very similar circle near the center of the lake above a submarine ridge that bisects the lake (ice circles are indicated by arrows in the lower MODIS image from April 20). Both circles are visible through April 20, 2009. Clouds cover the center of the lake until April 24, at which point the circular patch of thin ice was becoming a hole of open water. Similar circular ice patterns—although not nearly as distinct—have been documented in the same central area of the lake in April 1994 (during the STS-59 Shuttle mission) and in 1985 (during the STS-51B Shuttle mission).

While the origin of the circles is unknown, the peculiar pattern suggests convection (upwelling) in the lake’s water column. Ice cover changes rapidly at this time of year. Within a day, the ice can melt almost completely and freeze again overnight. Throughout April, the circles are persistent: they appear when ice cover forms, and then disappear as ice melts. The pattern and appearance suggest that the ice is quite thin. The features were last observed in MODIS images on April 27, 2009.

What can cause convection, bringing warmer waters to the surface? Hydrothermal activity and high heat flow have been observed in other parts of the lake, but the location of this circle near the southern tip, over relatively deep water, is puzzling.

Lake Baikal is unique in many regards. It is the largest (by volume) and deepest (1,637 meters at the deepest point) fresh water lake on Earth and, as a World Heritage Site, it is considered one of Russia’s environmental jewels. It is also one of the world’s oldest lakes (25-30 million years old); sediment deposited on the bottom is up to 7 kilometers deep. The lake’s long, thin, and deep shape results from its location in the Baikal Rift Valley.

As a United Nations World Heritage Site, Lake Baikal is considered one of Russia’s environmental jewels. It is home to an amazing array of plants and animals, many of them unique to the ecosystem. The lake’s biodiversity includes fresh water seals and several species of fish that are not found elsewhere on Earth.

Ice Circle on Wescott Stream, Waldo, Maine, -USA

I found the ice circle on January 1st 2005. It was between 8 and 10 feet in diameter. It was absolutely
perfectly round and it was turning:

What would be moving? There is ice all over.

Ice Circle in Northeast Utah, -USA

These photos show a circle located in Northeast Utah. Again, it appears to have been cut but the fragile ice surrounding it shows no signs of human tracks.

Mysterious Lawn Circle Appears In Southern Indiana, -USA

OTISCO, Ind. -- A couple in southern Indiana has a mystery on their hands that may just be out-of-this-world.

"He showed it to me," said Jean Drury. "I said, 'It's a UFO or someone spray-painted it while we were asleep.'"

Drury's husband Adam woke up Thursday and saw a perfect 12-foot circle on his lawn in Otisco.

They said a black substance was left on the grass and has a strange smell to it.

They have no idea how it got there.

Circle Appears Overnight in Yard in Tupper Lake, NY

Tupper Lake, NY

My name is Eddie Rentas. I live in Tupper Lake, NY. Please find attached the photo of a circle that appeared in front of my father-in-law's house overnight.

It measured 23 feet. The edges are green and the inside of the edges are brown, like something dried the grass out.

In the center it looks like the dirt had boiled up, and it looks like clumps. My father-in-law, James and I took many pictures of this.

I posted already these old but useful links on the Open Minds Forum.
In every case these structures are work of the plasmoids, but I haven’t
intentions to develop my thesis here, only pointed the links if they can
be of somebody’s interest.

Flattened Grass-Ring in Namsos, -Norway

http://img38.imagefra.me/img/img38/7/9/28/kennet/f_3ekwb9qwuh0m_e91605b.jpg

Flattened ring on a lawn

Time: Late Saturday evening between 11.30 and midnight, still light outside.
Location: Bjørum, the town of Namsos, the county of Nord-Trøndelag

Ann-Kristin Ledang was in the bathroom on the backside of her house, when she heard a sound she thought was opera music from the neighbour's house. Afterwards, when her husband was the bathroom, he heard a sound that he thought was Ann-Kristin speaking on the mobile phone. It was still light outside. When in the bathroom they will normally look out of the window and see the neighbouring house, but for some reason none of them did this evening.

Monday morning when Ann-Kristin looked out into the garden from the kitchen window (also on the backside of the house), she discovered a ring on the lawn. The grass in the ring had a lighter colour than the rest of the lawn, like it was bleached or had lost its colour in some way. While the grass in the centre of the circle possibly looked slightly darker than the rest of the lawn, the grass surrounding the ring looked perfectly normal.

While observing the ring, Ann-Kristin felt uncomfortable. She thought the ring on her lawn was awkward and eerie. She was at the same time thinking of the strange sound she had heard the evening before, and she somehow felt uneasy about going out to take a closer look at the ring. She called her mother (Hillfrid Malmo) and was talking to her on the phone while she was walking into the garden and entered the ring. Immediately she started sweating and a felt a strong tingling under her feet.

She now saw that the lighter coloured grass in the ring was flattened anti clockwise. The circle measured 1,20m across, and the ring itself was 15cm wide. She photographed the ring both with her mobile and with a digital camera.

The following evening, when Ann-Krisitn and her husband had gone to bed, they again heard strange sounds, - this time more like a buzzing.

Two days later they cut the grass with a motorized lawn mower, but the ring was still clearly visible. They cut the grass again ten days later, but still the ring was standing out clearly and the grass inside the ring still had a lighter colour. It seemed like the grass in the ring has stopped its normal growth.

Telephone interview of Ann-Kristin Ledang by Eva-Marie Brekkestø, 15th of July 2010.

The father of Ann-Kristin, Stig Malmo, reported the ring to the local newspaper already on the12th of July.

I found these circles all over my property about 10 years ago...I think ets have a small vehicle they travel with in their big ships, and travel around in the small circular vehicle when they want to do research..
