I have read that all artificial sweetners(Aspartame - a heart drug!!) can are probably causing weight gain. Apparently the brain thinks it's getting more calories than it is, due to the intense artificial sweet flavour and when you don't consume the calories your brain thinks you are about to, you are inclined to sub consiously consume that calorie defecit. Thus eating more than you would have had you not had the artificial sweetner.
Thats what I heard anyway. I drink to much diet soft drinks, and I am carrying extra weight. But I am a bit addicted to them.

I actually met a guy during my school years that was drinking diet coke because he wanted to lose weight! :D
He thought because it had the name 'diet' that it would aid him in some way - he was drinking like six a day.
Simple and powerful way to sell a product by putting the word diet in it...only works on the weak minded though of course!

The whole 'diet' industry is a CON. Eat smaller portions of healthy foods and you'll be fine. Don't eat until you feel like you are going to burst, eat when hungry until you are full.
Reduce portion sizes, use a smaller plate. And get off your arse and use it!!!
And avoid Diet drinks... they are poison.

yeah you are meant to stop when you're 2/3rds full because it takes 20 mins for ur stomach to register you've eaten anyway
if you want to lose weight to go for diet drinks, drink water with lemon of fruit juice
