I use bryce 6 but dont really know half of all the things I can do, I'm still practicing in that respect.

I'll never beat a person that can sit there and have a steady hand and draw things like you guys. Thats extremely skilled and creative.

I used to draw a bit but very badly, my hand doesnt do what my brain wants (especially curved lines ugh!)

Its been going through different editions for a few years,

http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/software/bryce/

Here is a free version of 5.5 http://www.download.com/Bryce/3000-2187_4-10696718.html?tag=lst-1&cdlPid=10696719

If that download is slow (from experience it usually is) then do a google search for

Bryce 5.5 free

When you get it I will also gladly give tutorials for the basics

Hey, you're doing very well with sketching! Have you ever heard of a thing called a "Prospek tool"? It's a device for proportioning drawing and it takes hours off my own drawings. Also, two of the best books for learning to draw and brushing up drawing skills are, IMO, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, by Betty Edwards and Bert Dodson's Keys to Drawing.

I paint now, I do watercolors, but I still find drawing is the part that takes the longest and is the most work. It's great fun, though, and you are doing fantastic and so's the stepdaughter!

Thanks for the tips ill check them out .Finding i can do a drawing within a couple of hours if i sit and finish one .The last one i did i tried the circling ? technique someone on here recommended for drawing skin , took longer but far better results. Worth the effort .A few online tutorials available , i have to sort out getting the hair correct and teeth present problems as the always seem to come out to big :D a bit like that1

Ok, been meaning to this for ages.....here's some of mine...ive only just managed to get 'em onto the computer!!

The dates of when i did them range over the last 15 years.... and i know a lot of them are women but i seem to have an affinity with women (bein one n'all!! :Di can identify with the shape of their bodies so it becomes relatively easy to paint/draw them. Ive also found using oil paints is my preferred medium...as you can see the paintings are much better when done in oils rather than sketches or in water colours!

hi lottie, for some reason i cant see your photos? I get what your saying about womens bodies and the female form. Ive also just started to think about using oils for the 1st time. as i want my painting to be rich and have depth which I feel is missing from them with the mediums Ive been using.

Any tips?

Thankyou for all your compliments people....:)

Jojo...the first one you like is the 'naked lady' as i call her...i painted her when i was only 18, i sketched her from an art book which i think the original was by Georgia O' Keefe in colour (i'll see if i can find a pic on the net...ive literally not seen the original since the day i sketched her) im not great with colour so i decided to improvise and do it in black and white and it turned out to be incredibly effective...:) I was actually pregnant when i painted her, this painting is extremely precious and of sentimental value....it was the first incling i was pregnant as i was feeling sick from the smell of the paints!

The second one came straight from my head...i wanted to do one which was from my imagination, i wanted to see what i could 'create'...kind of like a 'see whats in my head' thing....i was still quite young then too i think it was early 2000 i drew her....she always reminded me of 'Libby' from neighbours (Karl & Susan Kennedy's daughter!! lol:rolleyes::confused::o)

The Dragon i drew for my friends art coursework (LOL) she nedeed a dragon and so i said i'd do her one...tahts why it's photocopied!! lol!!
The pixie...well? God knows what possessed me....LOL!! again i was very young....probably 16 wheni did that!!

You're younger than I thought Lottie... haha... I feel old now. Oh well. :(

All great characters, say what you like; they were the good old days. :) I have to admit that I loved that programme... sometimes... sometimes... I'd watch both showings of it! :D
Now come on, I'm the King of Sad- you can't beat THAT! If they showed the classic ones again- I would watch it them! I don't care if my reputation goes down the pan! :o

It beats Coronation Street... wow Phyllis Pearce gave Percy a blow job at Jim's Cafe- how interesting! "Come and have a cup of tea, peeeeeeercy!" :o

You won't remember that- you're too young! :-/

I do... 'cause I'm old... but hey... I don't mind... not at all. :(

There need to be some more emoticons around here---- how about a crying one?

Come on Lottie, tell your bosses! :D

Anyway enough of fond memories.Your paintings drawings are excellent lottie you really should do more and make some money from them , you have a talent for sure and a promising carrer or sideline if you chose to persue it .Release all that creative talent from within who knows where it will lead .It can cause blockages when suppressed . :)

hey, onourway2012! Hows your doggies?

Well thanks for asking jo... they're doing fairly well but Lucy the older pug has some trouble with her hind legs(has for some time but just got worse in the last 6 months) and now has developed cataracts and seems to only have about 25% eyesight now....but she's content to sleep, sit on my lap, eat poop and pee and sleep some more. Nothing's life threatening so I just love her up all I can. And have a few more fleas hopping about than I care for....... funny...most insects I will just try to get them outside safely but I seem to relish squashing a flea..... oh well, nobody's perfect. BTW.... I told you I would post some stuff a couple months ago..... finally will. Thanks again and who's Amos the pus pet.....dog or cat?

Done at work a couple years ago. I drew them and a co-worker and I colored them. I worked at a day treatment center with naughty little boys and girls and we did LOTS of (therapeutic of course)coloring and drawing........because I like to color and draw. So yeah, did these while the kiddies were playing nice and using happy words and then I stuck them on the windows. Place closed after 35+ years about 14 months ago..... the usual money and politics BS.

The kids LOVED them! Anyhow I made her this birthday poster for her to color with all her and my dogs names on it..... Never got to see the finished product though....the dogs chewed it up! hahahaha

its just basic slip with a clear glaze over the top.

that was my first attempt as slip can be a bit thick a guey to paint with. ive done another onr today, of better quality. i could work out what to do better with the paint brush, but wont get that back from the ceramic company for another week.

it helps if you ball mill the slip
i also used to keep steel ball baring in the slip jars to help with a good mix
commercial underglaze works really well too

Actually heres one i did earlier LOL about 8 years ago , but the same process.I was reading a book with this guy on the cover and suddenly thought get a pencil i can draw this , like most of the paintings i do .Then it turned out near perfect copy . I love dreads and drawing them, i find so much easier than other hair types , which is very hard to capture depth etc .Heres another one of my favourites, another stepdaughter , in progress and complete .:D

cool! what does that mean/entail?

a ball mill is a machine that turns a canister with balls in it
you put the slip in the canister and the balls in and then you run the mill for about two or three days all 24 hours each day
when you are done the particles in the slip will be very fine and evenly distributed

Hi yes saw it it has a very ethereal quality about it an astral hendrix visit perhaps .
the spirit of jimi speaks to you ! :D I am planning to do a few more celebs?!
so will send u any jimi ones i do as and when . Need to sort out ink for my printer or get some of them printed up onto card .Each one improves with practice , i find if i do them in a half concentrated way i also do better by not trying too hard .Let the drawing reveal itself .:D Once i start painting again will give JH a go , some good psychadelic effects waiting to come out in colour .

They are very mandala like have you ever used them for meditation . Reminds me a bit of japanese zen gardening also ,as you lose yourself in the drawing , sand sculpture the list is endless really. What i told my girlfriend to do but we had no working scanner at the time was scan the drawings to print off so you can colour them differently .Also good idea for kids or adults colouring books .:D

The meditation for me is in the actual drawing. I just start out with one tiny shape in the middle of the paper and take off from there. I then get really into the lines, shapes and colors. I happen to really struggle with realistic drawing(esp faces!) because if it's not right I get very frustrated. Your last couple of points were exactly what we did where I work. I would create big posters for the kids to color as a group as well as individual posters for them to color or add to. The kids loved this and then were inspired to do their own posters and drawings.

I've been a compulsive doodler since very young. It has ranged from wrecking important papers to creating some of my most unique artwork ever. My peechees and notebooks in school were always covered in doodles. Even recently when taking minutes at a meeting it usually digressed into a doodle fest. Oh well. My hand just seems compelled to move in shapes.

Wow brain... that sh*t is AMAZING!... can you briefly describe your techniques?

Thanks!

I could be here all summer explaining the techniques I've picked up over the years, and we're still in Autumn!

Nothing is set in stone, everyone has their own techniques. I basically start with a sketched outline on A4 paper, use a pale coloured aerosol paint to outline the sketch on the wall, use colours for filling in the letters & background. Add 3D / shadows. Go over outline with bold colour that will stand out (black usually works best, but like most art, there are no rules). Add highlights, etc.

3D graffiti is slightly different, as you don't paint a final outline, just use different shades to define hard edges instead.

Experiment with different ways of holding the can too, upside down for low pressure, angled for fades etc etc. There are also different interchangeable nozzles which give different effects & textures

Here's a few tubes to give an idea...

Well that one wasn't commissioned as such, but it is on a Legal wall that was given to the people by Edinburgh city council. I wasn't too keen on the piece you exemplified; at night all you could see were the white highlights, so the whole thing just looked like a bunch of lines, so I went over it with this, which brighter in both day and night:

well only if they say "do whatever the hell you want" cuz I don't do well with specific instructions... I agonize about whether it 's good enough and often get really bogged down... Same with my guitar playing.....my best is just improvised playing...when told to play this or that....I really struggle. so it's a version of performance anxiety.... same thing happens in the...... well let's just leave at that.

Wow...sounds like you've got it down.... I just can't see how spray paint can look like airbrushed work and nor have big glitches and drips etc...

When I started back in the early '80s there were no specialist graffiti paints as such without spending a fortune on the dedicated art paints, such as Buntlac. Instead I used cellulose based car paint, which was an art in itself to tame. There were no special high/low pressure nozzles, only what you found on various other product cans, such as furniture polish etc (the WD40 nozzle was quite interesting). Putting a pin into a nozzle would open it up to give lovely 'splatter' effects by prodding the nozzle whilst holding it in front of the piece. I always did the outlines fast to avoid drips, this technique added a kind of 'energy' to the result, but you had to be really precise. Now there are specialist paints and nozzles dedicated to graffiti art, which make the whole thing much easier. Thus the old tricks have been forgotten over the years, and such a trade off loses some of the serendipity.

For the record, I've not been writing solidly since the early '80s, I painted my first piece in 1984, did the odd couple, quite a lot around 1988/89, then had a big break, came back to it shortly after moving to Edinburgh at the turn of the millennium and seeing the free wall dedicated to the artists.

Good for you , money is energy so it needs to flow and christmas time seems t o need lots of energy !! lol I drew a pic of a friends daughter from about 12 years ago , she asked how come i had suddenly had this burst of creativity as i had shown her my work .Her mum always wanted drawings of her two kids , hence the sketch .I said i had asked aloud that i increase my creative artisitic ability and just got on with it .It works, intent is the key .Go with the flow as you know, jojo , dont ya though .And it works with rhyme all the time .:D

I'm really considering designing these Talismans and having them cast. I used to work in a bronze foundry so I've got some idea how it works.

I might make them to sell online - maybe set up a shop or something on E-Bay...

If there are any Shamen's around I'll have them enchant them...:)

Good idea , as jewellery as well as plaques would loojk good and sell well i reckon . Above a doorway as protective talisman , intent when you create them would help .Especially for the sales speel :D

Some amazingly talented people on this group! Jeez, that right brain stuff certainly is true on this thread. I am not much of an artist myself (writer, wannabe...) but a freind of mine who is a fan of David Icke's books, but has no PC is. He is puter useless so I made these two videos of his work for him.

I've done a few final pieces using this linear technique, I'll try my best to share those with you.

In the meantime, here's a few ramblings from the same sketchbook:

A Join Circus Performed By an Art Gallery - HEAVY, and that’s the time you should stand back. Headstands that are obvious to EVERYONE. I lost my right arm in an affair, after twenty years of marriage.

Yet patience not pressure gets burned. Shown in some great promise, have some brilliance! Place a candle inside and wonder (as the beauty of true tattoos). Trying to look cool - But in the end you are ready to take a glimpse of an exciting new working world.

What is 'Open Grow' (The watermark in the bottom right)?

yep it is a mark where the picture is stored ,

To 2013 if they do copy it it is copyrighted art work , so i guess i would have lots of legal battles too .:)
