Why not? to be defeated in the public arena will make it look like he has little support. If he wins then his public profile will be raised and even if the press pursue him for his work in order to attack him then this should still serve to make people look at what he has been doing.

by not wanting to win he may be mocking it, but he isn't taking votes away, or trying to destroy the democracy.

he's just bringing publicity to his views, which are fantastic, but if someone reads a tiny description of him in a newspaper, they'll think he's mad, if they go to a speech or watch the videos, they'll see he's no idiot.
